Found this on the PearlJam.com forum:

Marco Collins, on his twitter (@notmarcocollins), posted this today: “Just heard a rumor about the Soundgarden reunion from another well known Seattle musician: Rehearsals start in the upcoming weeks!”

Marco is a programmer for Slacker.com and DJ/Mouthpiece for KEXP 90.3 in Seattle.

    But…Matt Cameron?…pearl jam needs him a lot!…he can´t quit the band…Pearl jam without that kind of drummer…I just can´t imagine…

Fuck these fucking rumors for the last damn time man I love Soundgarden too but I want to hear the actual news. These rumors get so tiresome. And the majority of the time they’re wrong anyway.

  • Ross said:

lets have Matt just stay with PJ.

  • vinny said:

    thank you kyle!

Kyle is right, enough with these phoney rumors. It is good to report them but chances are they are false. And Ross don’t jynx this whole the thing. A Soundgarden reunion is way overdue.

If true then there has to be shows coming very soon. They aren’t gonna start rehearsing if there aren’t shows to soon follow. I think April west coast!

Matt knows what kind of band Soundgarden is. The creativity they had together as a band and the albums they came up with were remarkable. He’d be a fool to stay with Pearl Jam and pass this up. Hence, the coming of this reunion. ;-)

While I feel PJ and matt have grown together. I still feel Dave was a better fit for their style at first. He was loose and laid back, matt is a drumming machine and can keep time better than anyone. His style of drumming fits Soundgarden. Who knows what is to come, I am curious to find out.

  • Ross said:

i feel the SG reunion is going to disappoint a lot of people because chris’s voice is nowhere near what is was.

While I agree Cornell’s voice isn’t what it was it’s still pretty immense and I think to suit his voice it’ll sound a little more laid back this time but great nonetheless. One thing I’d love to see would be a website giving us teasers of rehearsal footage followed by a dvd same style as PJ’s Single Video Theory. I don’t ask for much!

  • Cal said:

Anyone who thinks Cornell’s voice isn’t what it was should seriously listen to the last 3 minutes of this from his solo show in Jan 2010 – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ml5JrKJCzDY

    Wow awesome link Cal

His voice has done a total 180 from the condition it was in during the late ’90s and Audioslave Era…That video clip of Ticket to Ride above is just one of many examples.

He’ll be able to easily pull off the majority of Soundgarden’s catalogue.
