MARK LANEGAN TO PLAY AT MUSICARES BENEFIT HEADLINED BY ALICE IN CHAINS
Mark Lanegan, Heart, Billy Idol, and Duff McKagan will play at the MusiCares benefit show featuring Alice In Chains on May 31st in Los Angeles. Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains will be honored at the event, he will be given the Stevie Ray Vaughn Award.

I know it’s Jerry’s night, but wouldn’t it be cool if Lanegan sang Long Gone Day? Although there’s no getting around the fact that when Layne comes in on the Mad Season version, it’s so thrilling and fantastic, what a song, what a voice!

Im not trying to toot Jerrys horn but it is about time he got some recognition for what has been sadly overlooked by the mainstream(like it matters what they think). Those who have taste in music and the art have no problem commending Jerry for his talent. I find it amusing as shit when a “Top 50″ or Top 100″ guitarists of all time list comes out and he is nowhere to be found….What a crock of shit. How can Kurt Cobain be like in the top 15? Nothing against Kurt but he don’t even hold a candle to Jerry. Dirt for instance is just mind blowing and besides Slash (Im sure there are a couple more) and dude from white stripes….nothing really but garbage!!! You earned it Mr. Cantrell!!!!

Fuck it!! I’m moving to L.A. I hate that place but there is so much cool shit going on there.
Just wondering, does anyone know what this award is for and why Jerry’s being nominated? This guy deserves an actual music award. I just think there’s so many bogus who’s who of Hollywood giving each other awards. Does any of this money actually make it to the community? It’s a documented fact that California has the highest homeless population tied with Hawaii. But anyway, I’m glad Jerry’s getting the recognition he finally deserves.
