SCOTT WEILAND SAYS HE IS BACK WITH VELVET REVOLVER, SLASH SAYS WEILAND IS “OUT OF HIS MIND”
Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland did an interview with ABC News Radio over the weekend and claimed he is back with Velvet Revolver:
“We’ve all grown a lot,” explains Weiland. “We’re able to put egos and differences and old…conflicts aside and so that’s really cool.”
Weiland added that VR has already begun the writing process for their third studio album. “They gave me a couple of songs and myself and [guitarist] Dave [Kushner] and [bassist] Duff [McKagan] are gonna be getting together for a song writing session next week,” reveals Weiland.
In addition, the singer says that VR will soon be hitting the road for a short tour before the end of the year once [guitarist] Slash finishes supporting his second solo album, Apocalyptic Love. “Slash’s solo album gets released [on May 22] and so he’s gonna do some touring on that and then we’re gonna go and do some [Velvet Revolver] shows in the later part of summer into early fall.”
Slash vehemently denied Weiland’s statements, laughing at them on the radio station 93X this morning and stating he has no plans of ever playing with a Scott Weiland fronted Velvet Revolver again. Here is a clip of Slash denying the rumor:
“He did not say [we're back together]. He’s out of his mind.”
“There’s been a common rumor going around, I know that he’s been positive on that subject. Maybe they know something I don’t know.”
“I have absolutely no intention of going back to that.”
“Later on this year? I’m on tour all this year.”
“I’ll have to call Duff, but I seriously doubt that.”
“We have no intention of going backwards.”
A rather awkward situation wouldn;t you say. Lol.

Best thing Scott could do is to just make music on his own. Solo records. STP last record was poor compared to the previous ones. Less money with solo albums, but way many more things to say.
from VR I’d only save 4-5 songs in total.
Prediction: if Scott does get back with VR, he and Matt Sorum will be at each other’s throats very shortly. Leading to more Weiland flaming-diva moments.

Please dont go back to VR the highlight of the two VR concerts I saw was the couple of STP songs they played anyway, so why not just continue with the real thing.
Maybe VR is sick of waiting around for Slash and are going to get a temporary replacement till he’s available.
For all we know, Slash is the reason VR isn’t doing anything. The rest of the guys don’t seem to be busy. If Weiland says he’s writing with Dave and Duff, maybe he is.
Slash saying he would have to call Duff shows he doesn’t know what’s going on. So I am not ready to say Weiland is lying just yet. Slash seems to be the one lacking info.

Weiland takes a lot of shit from a lot of people. Most of the time it’s not even about his music, it’s just personal. How can anyone make fun of him for being a junkie, then praise Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, or Shannon Hoon? Staley and Cobain weren’t the only ones coming from broken homes and had daddy issues. Weiland’s had a rough life, even prior to fame/drugs, yet people jump at the chance to kick him when he’s down.
Sure, Weiland’s given his bandmates hell, but how can anyone who likes rock or grunge make fun of that. Cobain and Staley both died and left their respective bands out there in the dust.
John’s right. From what I’ve read regarding his early life, I would say Weiland had some very rough points, some potentially very traumatizing. He’s been a mess for as long as he’s been in the public eye, but I really can’t blame him. Well, I COULD, but then again I’ve never dealt with trauma.

Well, that is interesting. Slash has certainly had his share of temperamental front men during his career. Did anyone happen to read Scott Weiland’s ex-wife’s (Mary Forsberg) book? Interesting and good read. I haven’t read his autobiography, but I heard it was pretty lame.

I see this as one of two things:
1) Slash too embarrassed to admit just yet that they can’t find anyone suitable to replace Weiland.

The problem here is SLASH, not Weiland.
Slash can’t get along with anyone because he’s an enormous egomaniac. It’s why Axl will never step into the same room with him again. It’s why VR disbanded the first time.
VR –and STP, for that matter– have no marketability without Weiland. Even if Weiland is a burnt-out mess, which he is these days, he’s still the focal point of both bands when they are together.
No Weiland = no marketability = no money, honey.
It’s not like Slash is burning down the scene with his awful solo ventures with that pussy from Altar Creed. FFS, Duff’s Loaded band is miles above anything Slash has ever tried to do on his own.
There is way more money in a VR that includes Weiland, whether it’s an album, a tour, or both. STP knows this. That’s why they put up with Scott’s BS year after year.
Slash needs to pull his head, his hair, and his ego out of his own ass and wise up already.

I’ve met Scott numerous times and he’s been nothing but pleasant. He’s a shy man who keeps to himself, but gets ripped for being a FORMER junkie. To say that he has no good qualities is bullshit.

scott weiland is great and genuine man. i had the chance to meet him and i know people that have worked with him very closely in the studio. no one that i know personally has anything bad to say about scott. scott loves putting out music and he sees fronting two bands as a great opportunity that he can pull off. its just a shame that vr is dicking him around like this. slash is an asshole.
It seems Scott doesn’t know what’s going on :-s perhaps VR should record a cover version of ‘Scotty Doesn’t Know’ with his arch nemesis Corey Taylor on vocals!
Thanks Nanette, but I’m still waiting to see if ‘be’ is just a misunderstood child or a mentally challenged adult. If it’s the latter, I’ll gladly take those sky miles off your hands! Instead of beating him up, though, I’ll just teach him the basic understandings of communication.

I loved VR, and I think Scott was amazing in the band.
I don’t know what Slash’s problem is, but he has been acting like a total asshole these days.
The only thing that Slash wants to do lately is drag around Myles Kennedy everywhere he goes and have him sing on every project that he does, even at the R&R Hall of Fame ceremony for GNR. Don’t get me wrong, I think Myles is a decent singer, but I am tired of seeing him everywhere with Slash, every time I turn around.
But to the main point, I wouldn’t mind seeing a VR/ Scott W. reunited for another album. But I guess that’s not going to happen.
I think Slash & Duff are tired of dealing with self centered drama queens. They need realiable people around them and Scott isn’t very realiable. He was early on in VR’s career, when he was !00% sober. But now he’s partially messed up again. He’s admitted to it, that he’s back on booze and pills and staying away from the harder drugs. I saw him get carried to his tour bus by 2 roadies a few years ago. Slash may have been a junkie for a long time but he showed up for work on time and played his part. The real shame is Weiland was so amazing early on. But now it’s fucking Christmas records and Courtney Love antics.
