BILLY CORGAN SAYS HE IS DISAPPOINTED IN OBAMA, DOESN’T TRUST DEMOCRATS OR REPUBLICANS
Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan filmed an interview with Piers Morgan that will air on CNN on Wednesday, above is a clip of the interview. Below are a couple of quotes.
“I’m at the point now where I don’t trust either political party. I don’t see a reasonable third party independent run from anybody who is rational and is going to get there. But the choices we have are so compromised and I just don’t get it, but everybody wants the theater more than they want the reality.”
When asked what he is looking for in a leader, Billy said this.
“Moral compass. And that’s where I’m disappointed in [President Obama], he ran on a moral compass agenda but what happened? I’m sure there’s lots of good reasons, and I’m sure they’ll roll somebody out to counter thoughts like that, but I don’t see it. I travel the world, I’ve seen foreigners really shift on their view of America, and that’s hard for me to take. I still believe in my country, I know that the working class of this country is what this country is really about, that’s what I grew up in these are my people. I see them broken down, that’s hard to watch.”

Obama is not perfect but better than Romney… BTW, kind of hard to value a guy’s opinion when he is involved in Professional Wrestling….
so what if he is involved in Professional Wrestling?
it’s so hard to value a comment by a guy named mario
Corgan-Vedder 2012
…with Scott Weiland head of the FDA
Corgan’s views are the complete opposite of Weiland/Vedder. They’re liberals and Corgan is more of a free thinking independent.
@Brett
If it was the complete opposite, Billy would be a right winged republican no?
I am BC’s biggest fan but I prefer Eddie’s view on politics and religion by a mile though.
Ironically, Billy’s spiritual life and tendencies probably are essential to why I love his music so much. Me, the atheist.
@lala
come on lol, cheaper shot than Mario, you had to think about it haha!
Ridiculous statement by Mario though.
@is he one?
I am being realistic. I have never ever meat a “mario” that talked much sense. have you???
Is he one,
You’re looking at it very black and white, cut and dry. Vedder totes the line of Obama and the Democratic party (basically the Republican/Democrat ideology over the last decade to keep overspending and driving up the debt, and to expand the government into taking over the free market), Corgan doesn’t and is fed up with both major parties and how they’ve ruined the economy. He sees that the Republican and Democrats are both selling the same bullshit, but with different masks. Romney vs. Obama is all a show. Nothing will change/improve regardless of who wins.
So you agree with Billy on that Brett?
“…kind of hard to value a guy’s opinion when he is involved in Professional Wrestling…”
Kinda hard to imagine that would even matter if his political outlook aligned with yours.
It’s amazing what shit people throw out to save face when met with another (not even opposing) outlook.
Anyway, I’m glad Corgan isn’t like Mario here, desperately holding on to the idea that one guy representing his political party of choice (and it doesn’t matter which) is so undeniably going to make America so much better, even when he hasn’t.
I tend to agree with a lot of Billy’s views here. There has been so much smoke and mirrors, that it is easy to feel like a lack of much faith in either party. At least for me anyway.
Obama works for wall street and cares nothing for the little guy. Obama= increased police state, increased war on drugs(more marijuana busts than bush did in 8 years), increased pandering to “oppressed” special interest minorities like gays for the sake of votes, increased drone strikes and an ever-increasing national debt.
Whoever says this guy is the lesser of two evils is a delusional buffoon. Obama couldn’t fix a leaky faucet never mind the economy. He’s had 3 1/2 years and he is still blaming Bush.
The economy was BOOMING in during Reagan’s 3rd year in office in 1984. That’s why he won 49 states that election! Now let’s compare Obama’s third year in office. A disaster full of appeasement to special interest groups like gays and hispanics for the sake of votes. Obama is playing towards the best interests of himself, not American citizens. Bush was a gentleman…Obama is a holier-than-thou elitist.
Phil, I definitely agree with Billy’s frustrations with both parties and their growing similarities (serving their Wall Street interests). I don’t know all of Billy’s views so I can’t say if mine mirror all of his, but I like that he thinks outside the box unlike most other musicians who basically all say similar things politically that sound straight from MSNBC, or on the other side the equasion the older crowd who spits out Sean Hannity talking points.
If anybody’s curious of my political views, (I’ve said them before in the comments), socially I’m for stuff like gay marriage/legalizing pot but I am hugely against big government. I don’t like seeing us continue to print money/devalue the dollar and take over businesses/banks, nor do I like our seemingly endless nation building agenda.
IT WAS A JOKE
RON PAUL OR IM MOVING TO SOMALIA, WHERE THE GOVT WONT TAKE MY GUNS!

I say MJK for president, with Al Jorgenson as VP. We would be set!
I think we should go up to all polticans and rip their balls off with bare hands.
I can’t say I’m a big Smashing Pumpkins fan, but Corgan’s a smart dude (no duh, he’s a Rush nerd!). I can’t trust either political party. I guess I would be an independent, but I’m not even that. Ron Paul makes me sick. Jessie Ventura seems alright, but he says things that I don’t particularly agree with either. I’m waiting for a presidential candidate with guts. Someone that goes up to the podium and says something along the lines of “I’m whoop this country’s ass into shape”. We need a guy (or gal) who comes from the street. None of this “nice guy” bullshit.
I agree with some things the lefties say, and I agree with some things the righties say. Ted Nugent is nuts, but some of his points are somewhat on-the-nail. We should have the right to bear arms. That being said, certain people shouldn’t be allowed to own guns.
I don’t think any of us are as “anti-corporate” as they say they are. I’m not totally anti-corporate, but I think the whole system needs to be re-done. Sheesh, if they got people in charge of these corporations that grace our daily lives whom don’t have an addiction to big money, and brought all the factories back over here (overseas manufacture explains the lack of jobs), it’d be fine. There needs to be a good mix of Capitalism and Socialism to work, in my opinion. As a musician, some corporations are a part of my life. I play Gibson guitars and Marshall amplifiers. Both corporations.
Lastly, I hate when musicians/actors/sports figures get into politics and feed it to their fans. Even if they are complete opposites, The Nuge and Springsteen (both are criminally overrated in my opinion) are just as bad. Don’t get me started on Bono. All I gotta say is this: did Zeppelin ever talk about Nixon? Did Phil Lynott stick his nose in politics? NO!!! Does Ace Frehley go on and on about “how great Obama is” at his shows? Hell no!!! Even though Corgan is doing so here, his mouth isn’t outweighing his talent. His beliefs are still a mystery, whereas everyone knows that Nugent is a lunatic. Ah, he was nothin’ without Derek St. Holmes anyway.
