VP CANDIDATE PAUL RYAN LISTENS TO GRUNGE, FAN OF RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE

By: 17 August 2012 25 Comments

Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan revealed in an interview last summer on CNBC what kind of tunes he was playing on his iPod before the House voted to raise the debt ceiling, saying, “I was listening to Filter. I listen to grunge.” We recently reported that Ryan is a fan of Nirvana.  He is also reportedly a fan of Rage Against The Machine.

To the person who noted the apparent political bias on this site because of the normal picture of “the Republican” posted with the Nirvana story, in juxtaposition with the picture of Obama where “he looked like he was taking a dump”, look at that fucking picture. It’s brilliant. I’m assuming it’s your dirty work, Mike. If so, good work.

Mike and I are both independents. We like poking fun at both sides, we don’t take any of it too seriously. Funny pic chosen by Mike here.

That photo needs to be on a bumper sticker!!!

By the way to prove we’re fair and balanced, here’s the article with the pic where it looks like Obama’s taking a shit http://grungereport.net/?p=10026

No surprise he’s 42 so that is right in line with generation x 20 years ago. Plus it was a great time in music that is proving to stand the test of time.

Good for him that his listen to some cool music. Rommey/Ryan can beat Obama all the way.

this is to Brett’s declaration of being independent:

“In a world already moving in certain directions, where wealth and power are already distributed in certain ways, neutrality means accepting the way things are now. It is a world of clashing interests – war against peace, nationalism against internationalism, equality against greed, and democracy against elitism – and it seems to me both impossible and undesirable to be neutral in those conflicts.”

Personally, I’m a Libertarian and I will be voting for Gary Johnson for president. I think Romney is a total tool, and though I like Obama, I don’t support his politics. Nevertheless, I don’t like this photo of Romney / Ryan on this site. It makes them look homo and is obviously mocking them in a far more serious way than the Obama photo. Why mix politics with music and possibly alienate fans of this site? If it was Obama or some Democrat saying he liked Nirvana or Rage, I’m sure he would be praised for that, but since it’s a Republican, he’s being mocked. I don’t buy Brett’s claimed “neutrality.”

I like that he likes good music, but politics mindfuck me. It’s sad that their are many people out there who hate blacks, mexicans, gay people. They think so primitive, and the only way we are going to move on with this species is by co-existing.z Anyways, if i was going to vote now, i would vote for Herman Cain.

  • Brett Buchanan said:

tuanonna, I have strong political beliefs, they just don’t align with either corrupt major party.

  • Dreux said:

So what you’re saying, tuanonna, is that no one should be be neutral? First of all, being a registered independent does not make you “neutral”, necessarily, and it certainly doesn’t mean you’re indecisive or “on the fence” (and if it is, I’d rather be on the fence than hugging a wall). You can be independent and have decisive, concrete beliefs and opinions on any given issue. The difference is you’re smart enough to not feed the two-party system, and not cowardly enough to feel as if you HAVE to pick a team, for the sake of not feeling your opinion will be dismissed. It’s not a matter of accepting things as they are now, it’s a matter of trying to break away from what KEEPS things as they are now (if you’re an active independent, anyway).

  • Dreux said:

The point is, don’t feed that bullshit because you fell for the way things are.

  • Brett Buchanan said:

My views are mostly Libertarian, like I’ve said here before.

  • Tom said:

    Good luck with that Brett.

Personally, I listen to Green Day, but if I followed their philosophy in life I would have never joined the Marines. Mainly because they are pussies. But, I still love their music. Of Course Morello says all he can with 300 dollar shades, multi million dollar house, and 600 dollar jeans. Yup, makes sense, down with capitalism. What a fucking idiot. Maybe he should be practicing what he preaches.

    ummmmm…Rage are not Grunge…

  • tuanonna said:

Dreux and Brett, full respect, I am also not aligned to the two parties system, but being independent means putting them on the same level. And putting them on the same level means saying that health care rights are unimportant, that the “dream act” is unimportant
PS: the picture is sort of homophobic humour…

    ^ you . are . a . loser . and . i . HATE . politics .

  • Dreux said:

There’s nothing homophobic about that picture. The joke is not at the expense of homosexuals, but at the expense of Romney and Ryan. Even if the humor is drawn from the homoeroticism of the picture, it’s funny because of the irony of seeing two Republicans shirtless and holding each other like that while smiling and laughing. Also, the American flag in the background is a great touch.

super SG ( SHIT GAGGER ) fuck off and die ok? bitch boy :)

  • Delta Pearl said:

When Paul Ryan says he likes RATM, I see no reason to doubt him. Like his colleague, Mitt, he has no sense of honesty or moral judgement. It’s absurd to expect any sort of consistency or integrity from someone like him. He will say whatever it takes to achieve the goals of his corporate overlords. The saddest part is that he actually “believes” his own BS.
