FAITH NO MORE HAVE NO PLANS TO RECORD NEW MATERIAL
Faith No More frontman Mike Patton shot down rumors that Faith No More will record new material last week in an interview with news.com.au:
“We’re pretty happy with just touring. There was talk, ‘Should we write new stuff?’ and we all looked at each other and said ‘Nahhh, fuck it.’ We did work up one new little thing and that was really energizing.”
Very disappointing that Faith No More are resigned to being a nostalgia act. I’m sure Billy Corgan won’t be happy about it. This story is a week old but I looked up Faith No more news very frequently in the first couple of weeks of expanding coverage on the site, but there was no news on them so I stopped looking as much.

indeed, very pityful. BilCo should unleash his anger at them!
Should i go and see FNM on their tour? ‘Nahhh, fuck it.”
Brett – newfaithnomore.com is a good place for news on FNM and all related projects. Would be cool to see more FNM/Patton/Gould/etc news on the site for sure!
Maybe they just don’t want to fock up their legacy, so just stick to their existing catalog.
Surprising coming from a man as creatively endowed as Mike!
Mike is very endowed! Hold on, what!?
they are old now, they are fags now… oldfags
As for not wanting to ruin their legacy, this does exactly that. No one gives a crap about the Pixies, Pavement, etc. right now because they’re nostalgia acts. It’s the saddest thing when this happens
Mike also said years ago that Faith No More would never be together again…anything can happen with Patton involved.
patton, corgan is coming after all you motherfuckers!
all of you motherfuckers.
all of you…motherfuckers…
all…of…you…mother…
…fuckers
First of all, Faith No More is my favorite band of all time. If you haven’t listened to “King for a Day’ or “Angel Dust”, you’re wasting your time.
On the news, I can only say that Mike Patton is not a good source for anything. He said Tomahawk was dead (and now is making another record to be released in 2013); also said that Faith No More would never reunite. He has contradicted himself several times in the past.
On another note: They’re the best live band i’ve ever seen. You can look on YouTube for “Faith No More SWU 2011″ which is the show i went last year. It’s simply magic. I won’t be bothered if they just tour for the next 10 years.
Faith No More are my favourite band of all time too. Saw them once in 1997 & 5 times when they toured Australia in 2010. The 2010 shows were way better. They were obviously enjoying themselves more after their break.
I’d love to hear a new album from them but if they don’t want to that’s cool with me too. The thing I respect about FNM & Soundgarden is that they knew when & had the guts to pull the plug when things started to fizz out! They have enough respect for their music & their fans to not do what so many other bands do (Billy Corgan included!!) & FLOG THE DEAD HORSE for over a decade past it’s used by date.
Seeing them again after so long was awesome! They have a whole new energy when they play live. Also, Mike Patton is a legend. Corgan couldnt say a THING about Patton. I think calling them a nostalgia act is kinda harsh but if they wanna come back & just play live shows they are more than welcome.
Sweet Jesus, I’ll take them touring over nothing as long as their touring doesn’t prevent Mike from recording other things.
Although I do think they need to play their hometown a little more frequently, it’s been 2.5 years!!!
Before that, it was over 10 so I’m not really complaining.
Agree with you, Nick. I would call them an ‘amazing nostalgia act’. They’re always bringing something new for each tour. In their latest european tour, ‘Why do You Bother?’ was played for the first time since 1993. In 2011, they played ‘Star AD’ for the first time ever. At my gig, “Woodpecker from Mars’ was used as intro and ‘This Guy’s In Love With You’ closed the night; two rarities in their set.
This ‘new little thing’ is actually a good song. FNM fans are calling it ‘Matador’. Here’s a pro-shot version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syMElQ0XJSw
If it’s true that’s very disappointing to hear. Since the band reformed I’ve been hoping for a new album from them, this is the same lineup that made my favourite FNM album ‘Album of The Year’ back in 1997 before the split and judging from that new song they’ve still got that magic and making a new album of songs of that quality would not damage their legacy. They’re not getting any younger, they shoukd add to their legacy while they still can, it’s only a matter of time before one of these extremely talented guys gets bored of just playing the old material.
I understand why they don’t want record new material. Its quite a smart decision. Anyone remember when White Zombie called it quits after Astro-Creep 2000, not because of malice between band mates but because it had run its course. I believe that is what FNM is thinking & I support them on that. Would I love a new FNM album? You bet your sweet ass. But sometimes its not in the bands best instrest.
