In August, we reported that Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl had recorded new material. The rumors have now been confirmed, as the official website for the upcoming documentary Sound City released several new photos, including a photo of Krist Novoselic in the studio.

    Considering that Foo’s new album was the best output from all of the bands currently covered here for the past 4 years

    @Kirill
    So not true. In fact Foo’s new album is one of their most forgettable. No way it’s half as good as say “Oceania” from SP. No way.

  • Calvin McLain said:

    Haha, Oceania…

    All songs written and composed by Billy Corgan on Oceania. That’s still the same theme as the past for those who put down the former Pumpkins.

    One song has made it off the new SP album “The Celestials” and it made the US Alternative Songs (Billboard)charts at #29

    Wasting Light had 4 singles with 2 making #1 on the (Billboard) Rock, Alt, Main, charts. Top that!

    Foos Wasting Light is the best with AiC BGWTB being 2nd followed by Backspacer & coming in last is Oceania at this point.

    @ is he one, if you personally dislike foo’s it’s really up to you, cas I was referring to the majority and ppl do prefer foo’s over SP. You can’t really argue with ppls opinion
    Just check what ppl had to say on amazon.com

    Wasting Light was indeed amazing. A very complete album.

    So Smashing Pumpkins have made their way into the comments section on this article on Krist Novoselic recording for Soundcity. Uh okay, well instead of arguing about who prefers who or which album between Foo Fighters’ Wasting Light and Smashing Pumpkin’s Oceania (I prefer Wasting Light BTW), lets talk about how excited we are for this film. Or I am anyways….
