Controversial Rage Against the Machine guitarist and activist Tom Morello is going to mark the first anniversary of the just as controversial Occupy Wall Street movement in New York with a free concert this Sunday.

The show is set to raise continued awareness about the anti-big business campaign that Occupy blossomed into. Morello himself has been a regular performer at Occupy rallies in New York and Los Angeles.

Other acts for the show include Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys, Rebel Diaz and Lee Camp.

Nice job, Tom. You couldn’t have picked a more worthless cause.

  • Jarofchains said:

cracks me up that a millionaire supports this cause…why doesn’t he get rid of all his belongings and fortune and join the protesters if he thinks the cause is so worthy. so is he a communist capitalist?

  • Kris said:

Don’t think he’s a capitalist but he’s most DEFINITELY a communist. Rage has some great music but this guy is just a worm ….

Note to Tom Morello: Move the hell to China, Cuba or N. Korea – see how well you do there AND see how happy the governments there will be your lyrics. If you hate America so much, just GO already!

  • Jeanne said:

Geesh don’t people get what OWS really is? Are these musicians that desperate or dumb? So, okay Tom, guess you are going to give away ALL of your belongings because certainly, you are part of the 1%. You worked hard for what you have but if you support OWS, guess you are willing to “share” your wealth with those that rather collect welfare, spread their legs, and text with their new iPhone 5.

Even Jay Z figured out OWS is BAD NEWS! Commie a-holes!

  • kurt staley said:

Agreed. Why don’t he set an example and share his wealth??? I could use some. This occupy shit wasn’t some spontaneous gathering of people. This was coordinated by the radical extremist democrats. Screw the communists and their messiah.

  • Jeanne said:

And another thing, why are these celebs supporting a movement that wants to destroy Capitalism…the same system that allowed these people to become wealthy in the first place?

    SMH people are just ignorant.

  • brad said:

To the people who think OWS is about bringing Communism to America and hating America need to stop watching Fox,CNN,MSNBC.

It’s about separating business from government.
Of course the media(controlled by those business’ and those governments)are gunna focus on the people who have leeched on to OWS with their communist/socialist/anarchy stuff, just to piss you off and make you forget what it was all about in the first place.
Taking The Power Back from the banksters.
Did I mention they just approved QE3? That’s not on CNN now is it?

Capitalism is all about free enterprise and separating business ie the private sector from govt. Communism is govt. control of the market – morello is a communist and the folks participating in the OWS are in no way capitalists. OWS is all about class warfare and painting the 1% as the only villain in the current economic crisis.

Fact of the matter is that a lot of these protesters are just “useful idiots” for the left. They are college graduates with obscure degrees who don’t want to find jobs out of their little niche, kids who think higher education should be free etc… Also much of the middle class is to blame for the current economic crisis for living outside their means and destroying their credit in the process hence all the foreclosures in this country.

Basically this country is no longer about person accountability and is becoming more and more reliant on the govt. rather than fending for themselves.

Jesus Christ guys, first of all, how the hell would he share his wealth to you guys, throw his money in the streets? He’s a very charitable man, hell that Christmas #1 thing, all the profits went to charity. He even ran a non-profit band and this is just a free concert. And those of you telling him to move because he doesn’t like it, maybe he wants to stick around and do what he can to help and improve what he can?

  • Deviate said:

This guy is a complete tool.

I actually liked some of Rage’s music despite the fact that Zach dela Rocha was a complete ignorant idiot that supported a violent, cold blooded murderer.

But now when I hear it, I’ll also be left thinking about that a douche Morello is as well.

  • Inmytree said:

Even fellow socialists think this guy’s politics suck. The moderate ones with half a brain, at least.

  • SuperSG said:

FUCK POLITICS! I DONT CARE IF ITS DEMOCRATIC OR REPUBLICAN OR FUCKING LIBERTARIAN! THEY ALL SUCK!

  • Dreux said:

    @Inmytree
Socialists hate him for one reason: he’s not a “real” socialist. I don’t care for the guy’s politics, but at least he isn’t totally mindless. He has his beliefs and supports whatever cause he believes to be worthy of his support. He’s one of the few celebrities with actual passion put into what he preaches (I just wish he and Rage would learn that nobody who attends their concerts is going to go out and attempt to change a damn thing).

I can’t believe, but shouldn’t be surprised I guess, at the amount ignorant conservatives and libertarians on this site, when Grunge has always, always been influenced by left-wing ideologies.

And for the people who “like Rage’s music but don’t agree with their music”, fuck off! Don’t listen to the music then, if you get nothing out of it. Also, Tom Morello is ONE millionaire. One millionaire ultimately cannot change anything. Money =/= power. Money is a factor in power, but what matters is if you control industry and production. Morello doesn’t control the profits of his music, his record company does, he is an artist who gets money from royalities. Morello is not part of the bourgeoisie, or ruling class. And RATM and Morello have always been very charitable. You libertarian, conservative or otherwise capitalist grunge “fans” should take (or retake) an Economics 101 class. Turn off Nevermind, turn off Badmotorfinger, and crack open a fucking book.

  • SuperSG said:

Im am NOT turning off Badmotorfinger! :)

  • Dreux said:

Oh, of course. Let’s all leave our own subjective values and solutions behind and listen to this guy, because his values and solutions are absolutely RIGHT. Fuck you, Doesn’t really matter. Don’t tell people they shouldn’t listen to what they want to listen to (as if what inspires an artist validates its audience), and don’t assume that people who disagree with your stance are just ignorant and don’t understand the economy. You think a huge majority of the people that took part in OWS really studied up and understood the economy? Fuck no. The fact you think any one side is right and the other is just evil and wrong shows that you’re ignorant yourself. Did it ever occur to you that the other side of morons sees you the EXACT same way you see them? It’s all subjective, bud. And no, I’m not conservative. Maybe a little Libertarian, but then again I’m a little bit of quite a bit, I suppose.

  • SuperSG said:

wow…i thought of saying something like that! Curse You Dreux! You beat me to the punch!!!

  • Eddie said:

I think people forget the message of OWS because the protesters have shat away the message. People don’t care about what the occupy protesters are “doing” for the message that was once around, because they have lost the message due to their ignorant behavior. Do you wonder why cops beat the shit out of you when you’ve shit and pissed in public parks? Or how about raping other people? What about being complete bums (basically what they are)? People don’t care about the message anymore.

  • Real DIY said:

    @Doesn’t really matter
How long have you been listening to grunge, sonny? I’ve been listening since the beginning, and I’ve always thought left-wing politics were utopian/social engineering BULLSHIT. So you are not allowed to like a certain genre of music if you are not ideologically “pure”? I thought leftists were supposed to be “tolerant” and inclusive, but it sounds more like you would be willing to implement a Soviet style system to shut people like me up.

    Tldr version: FUCK YOU
