PEARL JAM TO FINISH NEW ALBUM EARLY NEXT YEAR

The new issue of Rolling Stone has a blurb about Pearl Jam’s next album with some quotes from Jeff Ament. The band plan to finish the new album in early 2013, Ament had this to say about the sound of the album compared to Backspacer, “Hopefully the next thing is something more out there. I think we’re about due for some songs that are way outside of where our comfort level is.”

Thats great news. Its time they step outside the box for once. Hell, incorporate some electronic stuff for all I care, just do it right. Backspacer was a polished pop turd. It had some great songs, but it was toooooo poppy. Johnny guitar sort of stepped on a different sound, but not quite. (and thats thanks to matt, the most creative one in the group)

Stone’s quote on Binaural is so true and they should embrace that type of completely unique sound for them to put EV’s amazing vocals to. I loved Backspacer but am ready for them to expand it similar to Binuaral in that sense.

Finish the album in early 2013 then go through another 9-12 months of post-production & random delays, so we’re talking what … mid-2014 before the next album is released? Slackers.

Can’t wait to hear the new album! Unlike others, I enjoyed both Avocado and Backspacer a lot. Best records since Yield. I hope Pearl Jam deliver another promising effort.

I hope Pearl Jam does a slightly more raw punk like 1970s sound on their next album. If only Soundgarden would of done that with King Animal from hearing Been Away For Too Long

Horrified you are stupid. The Avocado Album and Backspacer are great albums. I can’t wait for the new disc. I like everything Pearl Jam does. I have everything they have ever done and all there solo projects.
