How weird is this? I was literally 10 minutes ago on my way home from work listening to Black Gives Way To Blue and I thought to myself ‘I wish AIC played Download this year’ and then I get home, cone on here and read this… It’s some sort of sign, I must now buy a ticket!

damn shame that Slipknot is higher on the bill than Alice.

    alice in chains should headline

  • Kris said:

Glad to see AIC in the news but I agree with nevermind – they should definately headline.

  • Arf said:

No, AIC is where they should be. AIC is not what it once was, never will be, never can be.

I can see the good in this band continuing the music, I can see the good in this band’s new releases.

I cannot see them ever obtaining their original status. Sorry guys. I was a huge fan, but the new configuration, the new music, its just not the caliber of Dirt, JoF, Facelift… great band, but the guys at DL Festival have it right… AIC just isn’t what it once was.

    Choose.

Queens of the Stone Age news is always good news – thank you for it !!!!!

Does it really matter who headlines – if you have a chance to go just rock out and have a good time.

I wish AiC would come soon to Calgary… That would be the best day of my life.

  • Raj said:

Totally agree with you Pedro, I would love it if AIC came to Calgary. I know a couple of years ago they came to Winnipeg for a festival. They haven’t been to Calgary in 21 years and counting!!

Arf: No one can ever replace Layne, remember Jerry Cantrell must have written like 95% or more of the lyrics and probably sang anywhere from 50-75% on AIC songs. No band can return to original status after the lead singer dies.

If AC/DC continued without Bon Scott then so can AIC.

  • Staley_Forever said:

Sorry to burst your bubble Raj but Jerry Cantrell has wrote about 70 percent of AIC’s lyrics ( about 60 percent of AIC’s lyrics were written by him up until Layne died) and about 90 percent of AIC’s music. Jerry and Layne also co-wrote some of AIC’s Lyrics as well.

  • Jeff said:

Fuck this. Why can’t Jerry realize that he needs a walker to stand up there he’s so old. The band sucks without Layne, DuVall sucks, the band is nothing like it used to be and never will be again. Let it go and let it go with some dignity. The new music doesn’t even touch what the old stuff was. What are they gonna sing about now? How Jerry is old and his hair is falling out or what? No Layne, No Chains. I’ll say it again, thank GOD that he’s not around to have to see this atrocity. RIP man, we miss you and feel your loss.

To avoid the risk of further spreading negative energy I shall refrain from responding to two negative idiots plus one completely delusional female and simply say that folks in the UK are quite fortunate — queue up for tickets mates — I would be there if I could.

    Peace

  • Raj said:

Geez, so bitter Jeff. No one disagrees that Alice in Chains with Layne is the superior version of the band.

Jerry is roughly the same age as all of the other early 90′s band members. You want to talk about looking old, look at Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Mick Jagger, etc. Plus, he is a heavy smoker.

AIC continued because they wanted to and even have support from Layne’s Mom. They didn’t change the name, whatever. Layne shouldn’t have done drugs or should have accepted help if he wanted to get clean.
