MIKE PATTON SAYS FAITH NO MORE HAVE NO PLANS, HAVE ‘DONE PRETTY WELL’ MILKING OLD MATERIAL

By: 19 November 2012 24 Comments

In a recent interview with IHeartGuitar, Faith No More frontman had some pretty discouraging comments regarding the state of Faith No More:

“Right now we have no plans whatsoever. Live, recording or anything. We’ve done what we set out to do with the reunion, and it’s all great, but it’s just ‘Let’s see what happens next.’ And I think you need to take a pause to actually reflect on something like that, because otherwise we could just keep playing, and we’re very conscious of overdoing it, y’know, milking material that’s so old. You can only do that for so long, and I feel that we’ve done pretty well. The whole band’s naturally came to this conclusion, so now we’re just sitting tight.”

Patton also claimed that the Faith No More reunion wasn’t a cash grab.

I just have to know… where does Billy Corgan weigh in on this?

They will 100% have new material in the not so distant future.

Remember the interview with Chris Cornell in the mid 2000′s stating that Soundgarden will probably never get together again…….WRONG!

Yeah i’m waiting for Billy to give his 2 cents too.

I’d be more than happy for Faith No More to keep going. Playing live, recording, whatever. Love em.

Faith No More wants a break a longtivity between the albums record currently held by Soundgarden. So the last record was back in 1997, so my best guess its next year :)

they all look so old now,but i hope they do a new album soon

Better not to plan any new records than make an insipid new album. I love both FNM and Soundgarden, so I would not accept “a King Animal” kind by Patton & friends…

Billy where are you?Someone give him a call.

i just went on a FNM binge today and just came home from work to see this now :( even a King Animal FNM idc i just wanna hear some new stuff…I know Mike is still talented! and still got it…well now i’ll just wait for the new Tomahawk to come out!

another once great band bites the dust..

If you say you’re “milking” your old material, but then say it’s not for money, aren’t you in denial? Patton says it’s okay to milk the old material, as long as you don’t do it for too long. Don’t pretend your band has integrity. Call it what it is.

who’s this guy kidding? not a cash grab??? ya, ok…. this was the BIGGEST cash grab reunion i’ve ever seen happen. all these guys did, was get back and play some huge shows out in europe which they prob got a shit load of money from…. did they even tour the states at all?? i live in canada, and they certainly didn’t come here. this guy’s a great singer, but what a flake. pure cash grab of a half assed reunion imo.

It doesn’t sound that discouraging. They’re done with their commitments and will now reflect. If they don’t want to overdue their milking, but want to perform, they’ll write new material.

It’s as good a chance as any to get new FNM. That’s my take.

Also, there isn’t one thing insipid about King Animal outside of people’s unattainable expectations.

Faith No More are idiots for breaking up.

Patton has so much shit he does musically I really don’t see a problem with this… Check out his band Fantamos with Buzz, Dave from Slayer and Trevor Dunn if you haven’t already

I don’t understand you people… you’d rather these guys starve or worse yet, flip your next burger at McD’s than have their reunion tour? Ni**az gotta eat don’t they?
As long as those intentions aren’t reflected in their performances or attitude toward their jobs (yes they are jobs!) then quit giving them and other comeback bands such a hard time.
I’d love to see one of these complaining little kids even write a decent song let alone an album that goes platinum.

I don’t see a problem with reunion tours. They give people a chance to see bands they haven’t gotten a chance to see. It’s not like any of the bands on here are going the full-on casino and state fair route.

I was at their brazilian show in 2011, it was surely the best show of my life. I don’t have a problem with touring, they’re constantly bringing new stuff to the setlist.

Entering the studio would be a hell of a stress for them, they didn’t really enjoy it last time with ‘Album of the Year’, but i’m pretty sure we will see something new in the next couple years.

No big loss, sorry but Patton can’t sing Epic to save his life.

Fakes No More are done. Cry the big baby a river of milk. Z_zzzzzzzz

Oh go listen to Nickelback you Chad Kroger dick sniffer.

I like FNM’s older stuff, but i’ve always thought that something was missing without Jim Martin. His guitar playing is a big part of what makes FNM sound like FNM to me.

  • PMC said:

Faith No More is and always will be one of the baddestass bands of all time. Can u blame them for not touring in the US ?

  • Abe Froman said:

I wouldn’t think it was a ‘cash grab’ for Patton, because with all the projects he does, I would think he is pretty comfortable. Some of the other guys may have been desperate for the money, but I think Patton does ok.

I was disappointed they didn’t do a full tour of the US in the last few years. I drove to Philly to see them in July of ’10 and they were just as good as the first time I saw them in ’95. Just phenomenal.

New material would be cool, but I don’t want them to put out a shit album just for the sake of putting out new material.

I’ll have to settle for Tomahawk in June, I’m happy one of their few East Coast dates is close to home.
