I might be more interested in his solo career than STP at this point.

Its funny, I always thought it was Scott that was holding the band back, but that might’ve been Dean.

You may be right on that one Doug…we all blame Scott for singing the same set list night after night..maybe it’s not him? How can you sing the same set list for years and not get bored? Maybe that’s one reason he gets wasted before some shows.

I had the pleasure of seeing Scott Weiland in NYC last night. It was at the Highline ballroom which is a relatively small general admission venue with some seating in the back. From what I can tell, the place was pretty full. My girlfriend and I had a nice spot right in front of the stage. Scott was full of energy, sounded good, and really seemed to be enjoying himself. Considering this was billed as a “greatest hits” show, I was immediately surprised and excited by his choices in more obscure songs. Having seen STP half a dozen times since VR split, I often felt Scott seemed board with the greatest hits set list every night. Last nights show all but confirmed that theory. He spoke of new set lists every night and winging it on songs that have never been played live. For a life long STP/Weiland fan, this was music to my ears. The crowd up front really seemed to be into it too. But at about the half way point, some pricks in the back began calling out things like “Play something we know!” Scott really seems to attract these types. I couldn’t imagine such disrespect at a Chris Cornell show (who I saw 2 weeks before at Bowery). There were also some people shouting “Play STP” even though about half the set list was STP. But I guess what they meant was “play something off my Thank You CD.” It was annoying and rude but these people were really in the minority and Scott didn’t acknowledge it. In closing, this show was a real treat and any hardcore STP/Weiland fans should find a way to check this tour out. I’m really happy to see Scott doing something more creative and he seems to be having a blast as well.

Great to put Art School Girl, I haven’t heard that song in a long time. When I listened to it again I forgot how good it was.

Scott Weiland on the front lines in saving Rock N Roll. God Bless Mr. Weiland and his fine band.
