This show was awful. Was actually looking forward to it and by the time we left we were as disinterested in being there as the singer seemed. The new songs were unbearable and the old songs lacked something.

I’m sorry but I totally disagree with AJ.

I was there. The show was really great. The sound could have been a bit better, but The Pumpkins had a great time and them playing their new album from front to back live is a fantastic move on Billy’s part. It introduces the new material to everyone at their shows, and helps make it something that will ultimately be familiar. I’ve owned the record since it came out, and wasn’t feeling it for a while just listening to it. When I saw the album being performed LIVE, it’s a whole other animal. It’s very powerful. The giant orb that was above the stage, really helped create some awesome visuals along with the new songs, especially since those songs were mostly unfamiliar to most of their fans– The visuals kept things interesting the whole time.

Then, they started playing older songs. XYU was fucking incredible, and I noticed Billy was very into the entire show because his screams (especially in XYU– He sounded like he was in his 20′s again!) were very frequent, he seemed like he was having a great time. Disarm sounded just as good, if better, than the studio version. A bit more upbeat, but the same beautiful classic sound the song has always had. Tonight Tonight and Bullet were both amazing. Dream Machine was about ten minutes long, and dragged on at times, but since it’s still a song they seem to be working on, it’s understandable that it is just a jam and not a finished piece. Even with that in mind, it still kicked ass overall. Heavy, old school pumpkins riff. Fit right in with the classics. Hummer was a great surprise, too. The guitar tone ruled in that one…

Then the encore. Ava Adore, Cherub Rock and Zero. They dominated those tunes. The whole band seemed very very into the encore, and seemed very set on ending the night with everything they had.

I know this was long winded- But I’m still blown away from the show!! They were tight as hell, and they sound better than they have in years.

    Out of your mind…
Great move playing full album? That’s to keep people from leaving after the “good songs”. The sound was awful. Someone like me who didn’t own the CD didn’t get good picture of what the CD sounds like. My impression is that it sucks because it makes no sense and the words are unintelligable. How was Hummer a surprise? He plays the same setlist every show. Which would have been great if I could understand the words and put them to a song on the setlist so I would know what songs I liked.
Billy Corgan seemed stiff and lacking personality. His banter with the crowd seemed awkward and rehearsed.
My biggest problem with the show was with the sound. I’ve heard good shows at the arena, so I blame the band. Awful, awful.

Recent Pumpkins shows sound good to my ears and I am into hearing a lot of new songs live. Playing the entire Oceania album every night is wearing a bit thin though, nor do we need to hear Space Oddity and XYU all the time. The second “hits” part of the show could be mixed up a lot more from night to night. Billy slags Soundgarden for playing old songs, and then turns around and plays the same old songs night after night, seemingly just to placate people who don’t have the attention spans to sit through the new music during the first half. Jeff is an awesome guitar player and this version of the band is ahead of the old band technically … They should flex their muscle a little more and stop playing it safe with setlists.

I REALLY doubt it was as bad as AJ says it was. Maybe the sound wasn’t that good but about the band performance and the setlist, you’re entitled to your opinion, but I can assure that the Oceania tour is one of the best SP’s done.

The whole album is awesome and playing it as a whole is a statement. LOVE IT!

They hadn’t played XYU for 10 years, that is hardly all the time. That song needed to be resurrected and everyone deserves a chance to have their face melted to it live!

They’ve played XYU the last 17 shows. Sounds like all the time. The show was not good. Doesn’t really matter how often they play a song or not.

I was at the show last night and I thought it was a really good performance. The new stuff was interesting and I enjoyed it. I know it wasn’t their “old shit” but it was good. They are a band and make new music which I can appreciate. The visuals and the orb backdrop was beautiful. Then they did eventually play their old stuff. It seemed kind of sped up and rushed but it’s all good. They have been playing that forever. I still appreciate the music and feel great that I got to see them live. Overall I think it was a good show. And they did GROUND CONTROL TO MAJOR TOM! woo! haha :)

I was there. Great show. The crowd was calm until the older songs came, they went nuts. Even some old people were going nuts! I wonder if a future album will be more like Mellon Collie or Siamese Dream
