SCOTT WEILAND SPOTTED TAKING SHOTS OF TEQUILA AT SOLO SHOW IN MIAMI
UPDATE: BelowEmpty.com forum member VegasCrackerman posted his account from the show, “There was no ‘backstage’ area in the club…so the band took a couple minute break after the main set in one of the service hallways – the rumoured ‘drinking’ didn’t take place until AFTER the gig had concluded.”
The Miami Herald reports that Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland was spotted taking shots of Corzo Tequila at his solo show on Saturday in Miami, during a brief intermission. Weiland stated at the show, “This could be the smallest stage I’ve played since 1992.”
Weiland started drinking again in 2007 and has been battling alcoholism since then. He attempted to quit for good in fall 2010 following a meltdown onstage at a Stone Temple Pilots show. Weiland has stated that he believes he can drink in moderation but it has been a sore subject with his STP bandmates.
And?? This is news? smh. He drinks and has said as much. Heres two headlines. SCOTT WEILANDS an honest addict/alcholic. That is an effing rare breed. Says alot about his inner compass as a human actually. AND, He WASNT SEEN DRINKING at Asbury Park, wich i covered start to finish on the stop. Come on guys. i love ya, but its getting obnoxious. Im at these things, and this man cant win for losing w/ GR anymore. Cam we report the good too? There is plenty of it in 2012 between his solo rounds and the STP tour. It frustrates me that there is so little balance, and that very well could be a camp Weiland shortfall in pr, but as.someone who is at some of these shows, it disturbs me.

This is news. He was doing so well staying sober and playing decent shows. If this spirals it would be disappointing.

People aren’t fair sometimes. Latest Corgan news were really interesting and informative. He is the most interesting speaker covered on the site.

The Miami Herald reported this, a newspaper. I don’t like that he’s drinking, but he’s an adult and it’s his decision, and it’s news. Also Scott hasn’t been too secretive about his drinking (talked about it on Howard Stern in 2010 and 2011), so it’s not like this is some great thing being uncovered here.

I have to side with Brett and Magic Mike here. They’re reporting legit news (from a credible news source) and they’re not being biased about it. Scott drinks. He’s a grown man who’s taking accountability for his irresponsible actions. Hate to burst some bubbles, but rockstars aren’t always who they say they are. I met Steven Tyler before a show one time and he was high as a kite after telling the press he was clean. Rockstars lie on and off the stage.

Hopefully, his drinking isn’t too out of control but you never know. At least its not heroin.
Of course Scott’s addictive habits have been a problem for his STP bandmates. Weiland served a year in prison when the band was supposed to be touring for the album No. 4.
