COURTNEY LOVE TO SING WITH MICHAEL STIPE ON JOHNNY DEPP’S PIRATE THEMED ALBUM

Hole frontwoman Courtney Love has been pegged by Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp to take part in an upcoming new compilation album. The two-disc collection entitled Son of Rogue’s Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys will feature nothing but covers of traditional pirate songs.

The album, which is a sequel to 2006′s Rouge Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys will pop into stores February 19th and will feature contributions by other big-name artists such as Keith Richards, Patti Smith, Iggy Pop and Tom Waits. Love’s contribution to the album is a duet with former R.E.M. vocalist Michael Stipe entitled: “Rio Grande”

    A pirate album seems like a very interesting concept for an album. And Courtney Love and Michael Stipe on a song together? Never would have seen that coming.

    I’m more curious about the Iggy Pop and Marianne Faithful tracks than the rest.
