JAMES IHA SAYS BILLY CORGAN’S NEGATIVE REMARKS ABOUT HIM ARE “VERY BITTER”

By: 6 December 2012 23 Comments

Former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha responded to Billy Corgan calling him “the worst human being I have ever met” in NME magazine for the first time in a new interview with Telerama.fr. This is translated so some of the grammar may be off.

“Such a comment seems very bitter. I hope that Billy has advanced over the last ten years, he has a lot of talent and a lot to offer musically. For my part, I feel good in my life, I am proud to have played with the Pumpkins in the past, proud to represent A Perfect Circle or my solo projects today. I found my balance.”

Good on you James. Notice how everyone that Corgan trashes handles themselves with tact in their responses? That’s how adults act, Corgan needs to pay attention.

Oh good I was planning on translating it for you this morning. The content seems to be there so, it’s all god.

It’s truly a sympathetic interview. Those should cool the relationship between the two. Maybe some day we’ll see them publicly together, it would be nice.

Meanwhile James “look to the sky” album is very sweet.

Oh BTW just tell me if you want me to translate the whole interview, I could do it today. I’d do the best could. Although you did a good job with that part.

As you wish, it would be my pleasure.

    Have a good day!

how awesome would it have been if James said ‘that punk owes me $40,000′.

  • hmmm said:

James doesn’t care about SP fans, and he’s the one who bombarded BC with lawsuits. It’s funny that he sounds as if he never did anything wrong.

  • Angus_Shmatemire said:

What’s funnier still is all the douche nozzle fans such as “hmmm” that insist on continuing this feud on Billy Corgan’s & James Iha’s behalf.

i’d be bitter too if i’d if let a sub-par guitarist be in the band i started, for 12 or so years. especially if i were the one to write 99 percent of the recorded material, then have him leave the last concert without saying bye and then sue me.

Yeah that story about James leaving without saying goodbye to Jimmy and Billy (Told by Billy, confirmed by Jimmy) still makes me cringe. It seems like such a lack of respect. It’s just something you don’t do.

    James Iha is a tool.

I swear, all the negative comments are by the same person, on every single post, just under different names. Iha is a great guitarist and a great person.

  • bill said:

Brett mistranslated this, if you translate the whole article nowhere does James say Corgan is one of the worst people he’s ever met. That quote came from one of Billy’s interviews a year ago. It’s out of Iha’s character to say something like that anyway.

  • Brett Buchanan (author) said:

Bill, you misread what I said. I said James responded to Billy calling him “the worst human being I have ever met.” James’ quote is a response to that quote.

  • Brett Buchanan (author) said:

Which is why I said it’s Billy’s quote from NME.

  • bill said:

My apologies brett, thought I saw a comma there. That, of course, changes the whole meaning!

I support Corgan continuing on with the SP name, and the whole “James left without even saying goodbye” thing was wrong, but I don’t get why he can’t move on from it. It was over 10 years ago.

  • Christine said:

At this point I don’t think any of Billy’s slagging deserves comment from anyone at whom he’s directed it. It’s his pity pool, no point in encouraging him by paying any attention to any of his interviews at this point. I’m ashamed and embarrassed for Billy. I’m ashamed and embarrassed that I am a fan of his work because he’s made it impossible to enjoy now.

The latest smashing pumpkins album was wicked and that’s all I care about regarding all of this banta fodda

To Brett according to blabbermouth, a new Alice in Chains song named Hollow is coming out in two weeks.

  • Is he one? said:

Christine you are pathetic. There’s no other way to put it, you know that?

Ok we got it you aren’t a fan anymore, you are hurt, your life isn’t the same anymore, you thought Billy was Loving Jesus no.2 but he is not.

Now can you apply what you’re saying you do, stop caring and giving attention, and get the fuck off?

    With all due respect.

I am enjoying Billy’s work just like I did when I was a teenager. Just fine.

I don’t care about his shenanigans. Most of the times the guy is right regarding the subjects he tackles.

As long as the music is quality music, Billy can say whatever he wants as far as I’m concerned.

Now, if the music would suck, then I’d probably have a problem.

But that’s obviously not the case, is it Christine?

  • Is he one? said:

The music is nearly at its best. The next SP album should be epic!

And that, my friends, is what matters.

Billy and James I know there was some bitter stuff going on but you 2 need to work on differences because you to made great music together.you two are the smashing pumpkins. Wish all would .i was at last tour were billy announced where he leaving with his life partner which was James Iha .such a shame to waste that good times and special moments you all had

  • tyns said:

You don’t know both sides of the story. James leaving without saying goodbye could be because he was too emotional, or maybe billy called him an “a**hole” before, or the entire year before, the last show. Who knows. I generally wouldn’t side with anyone until you knew both sides of the story. To me, James holds a lot more dignity to the Pumpkins Legacy that he was apart of. Billy is on a crusade to ruin peoples memories of the old pumpkins music. But that is why I like Billy, no matter how much he tries, he will never escape the old pumpkins image. Why? Because it was an amazing period in his life creatively… People responded.. If he chooses to “try new things” and people don’t like it.. fine.. He doesn’t have to constantly keep justifying himself in every interview though… God bless both of them.. and hopefully they can work out their differences… not just business wise, but decency wise.
