LISTEN TO THE DEBUT EDITION OF THE EDDIE VEDDER RADIO SHOW

By: 6 December 2012 19 Comments

The Eddie Vedder Radio Show debuted yesterday on Pearl Jam Radio on SiriuxXM. You can download it by clicking here, Norm from the PearlJam.com forums recorded the show. Here are some notes I wrote down while listening:

-Ed mentioned early on that the songs he’s playing on his show are the songs he plays loud in his car or in a hotel room. He also said the songs would make a good workout playlist “They’ll keep you moving, you’ll have a smaller waste in no time.”

-Ed said that if Pearl Jam ever covered a Soundgarden song it would be “Ty Cobb.”

-Ed said regarding Jeff, “Some people call him Jeff Ament, I just call him my brother.” He said he thinks Jeff’s new solo album is the best thing he has ever done musically.

-Ed said Kim Gordon is one of his favorite singers, and one of his favorite people of all time before playing a rare song he recorded with her entitled “Croon Spoon.”

-Ed played a clip of some ambient music that he created, “By the way this music in the back this is something I do in between shows or in the hotel room, got a little recording rig that I mess around with. You ever wonder what I was doing between shows? [Laughs] Here’s an idea, I don’t know if it’s pretty but it’s how we keep ourselves entertained.”

Playlist:
Fugazi – Caustic Acrostic
Sleater Keaney – Entertain
Queens of the Stone Age – Medication
Queens of the Stone Age – Little Sister

Ed can’t remember his lyrics or the fact that PJ has already covered/teased numerous Soundgarden songs…

What Outshined from 91-92? That hardly counts. I don’t recall any other teases and if they’ve have covered Soundgarden in full form please clue me in to where it is, since you say EV’s memory is shot. So is mine, so please crack an egg of knowledge and show me what Soundgarden songs have been covered by Pearl Jam.

I’d like to see PJ take a crack at Ty Cobb… hell, I’d like to see Soundgarden do the same

Even though they did play it in Australia

So singing Outshined in ’91-’92 doesn’t count? What is the time frame acceptable to you then? Within the last two weeks?

Haha, yeah over 20 years ago he did tease Outshined. I know your a troll and all but you really think that counts? Nevermind, of course you do, hence the troll title.

  • Spents said:

I think singing 2-3 lines of Outshined doesn’t really count as a full on cover.

But you did go the extra mile and do all that research just to be a troll, so I do applaud you. Because, it’s like I always say “It’s not worth doing if you don’t do it right.”

But, in all honesty, don’t you think it’s more than just a little sad in the long run?

  • Jack Irons said:

    Your & You’re. Learn the difference…

Yes, That does count… They were a band named “Pearl Jam” and EV sang a Soundgarden song. Is that not what EV said?

  • Jack Irons said:

EV can’t remember his own stories…

According to EV, in the PJ20 book, He vommited profusely after coming down from the rafters after his Del Mar, CA climb. Then, in the PJ20 movie while he’s smoking like a chimney, he explained the same story and said he came “this” close to vommiting. If you read the book and watch the movie, alot of what he says contricts. It’s a joke!!

  • Calvin McLain said:

Haha, YOU ARE one of the most bitter trolls too. I just got an email which explains why and it all makes sense now reading your posts. For those who have not received this info on Jack Irons:

Jack Irons was once a huge Eddie Vedder fan, some years back he was mocked at a EV solo concert and EV almost made him cry. With his gf attending the show also. I don’t yet know what he did, but I can only imagine for acting in the similar fashion to how you are on this site post this experience.

But now you just want to talk shit about him to make your horrible experience seem less traumatic. Because if others think he’s not as great as you once thought he was, when he made you cry then you don’t feel like such a constant momo in front of thousands…

But it really says a lot more about you, on here trying to call out such a talented and generous musician as EV because he played a few lines of a SG song 20 years ago and you think that’s equivalent to an official cover.

I won’t be responding anymore to you either, as trolls don’t deserve this much of my time, but after getting that email about your past EV experience I had to make sure all on here knew what your motives are for constantly bashing EV.

Does anyone actually think any of us can afford SiriusXM and an internet provider? Nice play list. Thumbs up from here.

  • Christine said:

PS: I want to hear the Perry Farrell / Dhani Harrison cover of the Cream track Perry recently referenced in an interview. Eddie should find that for us. I’d like to hear it.

    THANK YOU. I LOVE YOU!!

    why argue?…
opinions come and go, positive or negative. no one wins an award for convincing someone that their views are right. theres no gold star for bashing an invisible face with typed words. just stop it.
just enjoy life with positive thoughts and actions and be thankful for brilliant artists like one Ed Vedder that can inspire us to be the best we can be, especially to each other.
