SCOTT WEILAND’S CAMP DENIES HE WAS FIRED BY STONE TEMPLE PILOTS
I have spoken with somebody who works with Scott Weiland’s management, and they denied that Weiland has been fired by Stone Temple Pilots. Slash claimed yesterday that STP fired Weiland, which is why he is campaigning for a Velvet Revolver reunion in the press. An official statement may or may not be released later today by Weiland’s camp. I am still trying to find out about what the actual state of STP is. We won’t really know until they collectively release a statement. STP last performed two and a half months ago in Sacramento, California and are “on a break” according to Scott Weiland. The band have been unwilling to commit to recording a new album. The DeLeo brothers and Eric Kretz have yet to comment on the story.
I assume you won’t get anything from the STP side of things. They never talk about anything especially rumors. I can see Scott releasing a statement at some point. Hopefully not a rant like he did against Axl and Sorum.
I won’t really believe anything one way or the other until the DeLeos/Kretz say something.

I feel the same way as Brett. I hope the Deleos/Kretz (remaining members of STP) release a statement soon on the state of the band.
STP is the butt rock verison of grunge. Copy cat bands like them are the reason people got sick of grunge.
I was hoping we’d get another STP album, a great one that holds up to the high standards of their first 5, one to make up for that mediocre attempt they came out with in 2010… That is not a good way to go out, come on guys get your shit together!
As I posted in the other thread, I don’t see Scott being fired. I think Slash/his people implied Scott is fired because he wants to do stuff with VR and his first round with VR was due to STP breaking up. STP is on a break now, so why wouldn’t he want to work with VR? Still, I can see how the bands get tired of him; he has a way with actions and words. In an interview a couple of weeks back, he says STP touring was just to make money and he seemed unhappy. But then in the same interview he says with VR projects he figured out a way to make money. I don’t know. He’s all over the place. They just need to kick back for a year, recharge, live together for three months and write, put out another album. And they should tour and play what THEY want. I just want to see STP jam. The “Core”-only fans can fuck themselves.
RE: Outshined–That may be true for “Core,” (still a classic, IMHO) but STP encompassed many styles–grunge, glam, bossa nova, arena rock, etc. Something like “Hello, it’s late” doesn’t sound remotely like Nirvana or Soundgarden. STP are arguably one of the most underrated bands of their era.

I wonder if Chris Cornell will join this band. He can’t write Soundgarden tunes anymore and admitted as much in a recent interview. A seamless add, no one could notice Weiland was gone. Both Soundgarden and STP are really the same now

Idk why Scott is trying so hard to work with Slash when he obviously hates him. Did Scott kick his dog or something before VR broke up?
Slash said that when they decided Scott was leaving in the weeks leading up to that they were giddy and excited he was being fired. They would start VR concerts on time with or without him being present or ready. I guess they had enough of his shit and were glad to see him go.

Of course it’s not true, STP is nothing without Scott Weiland. The other members are talented and have created great music, but Scott is the heart and soul of STP.
Why are we believing what Slash says on a radio station? He’s just mad at Scott for saying VR will reunite.
I’m sure it will happen once Myles does something else, Slash could never find a replacement singer. He turned down Royston Langdon, Ian Thornley, Corey Taylor, etc.
Who cares about them anyway? They are the missing link why people associate Nickelback and Creed with bands like Pearl jam.
Velvet Revolver wrote Fall To Pieces, that’s why we need them back. That’s one of the greatest songs to come out in the last ten years AND it got radio play.

STP cannot exist without all 4 of the guys…they all contribute equally. I so hope they stay together and do what they do best…put out great music. You can’t tell me that they don’t still have a LOT to offer! Scott belongs with STP, not VR. Waiting with bated breath.

Slash doesn’t want Scott in VR. I think it is because Slash just has a need to own every band he’s in. I think that is true story behind GNR, too. Slash causes all the shit, blames the other person who is responsible for the band’s success. It’s his way or no way.
Scott announced at a show that he was quitting VR, all the other members looked at eachother in surprise…then Slash says Scott was fired.

maikel your an absoulute moron…. Nickelback and creed sound nothing like stp and stp sounds nothing like pearl jam…. Pearl jam give one element to there style nickelback and creed give a bunch of shitty elements to their style and stp give a bunch of amazing elements to there style… there not just a butt rock band from the 90′s and sound like they have a frog in their throughout… Pearl jam is an amazing band aswell as others like AIC and sound garden…. and AIC is another one of my absoulte favorites but Stp is completely different musically…. Study it maybe youll understand.
Slash was just using Scott’s name to get his band noticed.
