COURTNEY LOVE “NOT AMUSED” BY NIRVANA REUNION WITH PAUL MCCARTNEY
According to the Huffington Post, Courtney Love is “not amused” by Nirvana members performing with Sir Paul McCartney.
Courtney Love is not a fan of Paul McCartney performing with the surviving members of Nirvana, telling TMZ that she is “not amused” by the idea.
Kurt Cobain’s widow said she might have been more impressed if McCartney’s late bandmate John Lennon was in Sir Paul’s position. “Look,” she said, “maybe if John were still alive it would be cool.”.

That does not make her,in any way shape or form, a member of the band and should have no say what-so-ever in what the surviving band members choose to do with THEIR legacy and one-off reunion shows. Who cares what she says…no one asked her – Grohl, Krist and Pat are doing something good for charity. Love has no right to criticize McCartney – the guy is a legend and genius – if it wasn’t for him she would not be around.
I don’t really think Nirvana was overrated either – they were the spear of the last great music movement – Cobain was a spokesman for a generation not due to his own choice – the media dubbed him that. Cobain was a great songwriter and talented musician. I really can’t believe anyone who frequents this site thinks that Nirvana is overrated – they are one of the most important bands in Rock history.

I fucking love Nirvana, but I hate how people put them on a pedastool and assume that Nirvana is all that ever was and ever will be to grunge/alternative rock, and completly ignore much better acts like Pearl Jam, The Smashing Pumpkins, bands that were just as BIG as Nirvana was in the 90′s. Ten had actually sold more copies in the US and worldwide than Nevermind, but I wouldn’t expect you guys to know that. Honestly, if Kurt Cobain was still alive, and Eddie Vedder or Billy Corgan had shot themselves instead, you all would praise PJ and SP like you do Nirvana.

I agree to an extent – like I said though Nirvana was the tip of the spear of the whole 90s “alt” Rock movement. It’s hard to gauge whether or not that explosion of music would of been the same without Nirvana. They were the band that broke alt music into the mainstream. Nirvana was the first band that the mainstream was attracted to and after that the damn broke. They were at the head of the cultural revolution.
I do like Nirvana alot but if I had to rank my fav Seattle bands they would be AIC, Soundgarden, PJ and than Nirvana. So I get what people are saying but no one can discount Cobain and Nirvana’s influence on the whole movement and honestly if Corgan killed himself he would not be held in such high esteem as Cobain is – and rightfully so.
It just bugs me that Cobain is called overrated and a target. It was the media that put him up on that pedestal – he wasn’t looking for nor did he want that label or attention.
Nirvana was not overrated, they had the effect they had for a reason. Anyone who says Kurt Cobain was “overrated” as a singer just doesn’t fucking get it. He was the “anti-singer,” that was the whole point. He didn’t care about sounding pretty, he just did what he did.
@Greg is bang on, Nirvana wasn’t overrated. SLTS revolutionized music, Nirvana wasn’t a one hit wonder they had a lot of great songs. Kurt also had a great voice. They were able to mix punk and pop, heavily distorted guitars with catchy melodies.

Nirvana’s catalog is awesome but it is definitely true that if say Corgan had shot himself in 1996 or 1997 he would be as big as Kurt is now. No doubt in my mind.

Get a clue. This was the surviving members of Nirvana playing with Paul to play a brand new song from the SOUND CITY MOVIE SOUNDTRACK – NOT NIRVANA!!! This is NOT a Nirvana song, they did NOT perform as Nirvana, and Krist, Dave, and Pat all say the same thing – “not a Nirvana reunion, just jamming with Paul to make a Sound City Movie Soundtrack collaboration”
Nirvana and Kurt were both overrated. Grunge and mainly Nirvana almost killed Rock N Roll. It wasn’t until Bon Jovi came out with Crush that RR started to recover.
Well, she can be as unimpressed as she wants, but Courtney wasn’t in the band. Dave & Krist were though, they can perform with whoever they want to perform with and it is none of Courtney Love’s bloody business. Christ, they didn’t even play a Nirvana song.
