Smashing Pumpkins frontman & Resistance Pro Wrestling promoter Billy Corgan said in a recent interview with the Washington Post that he was in talks with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and made a pitch to the Executive Vice President of Creative – Stephanie McMahon. It was turned down however the potential deal would have consisted of his Resistance Pro venture being made part of WWE’S developmental system. What’s more, it would also have been to the credit of Corgan’s company on whether the potential superstars get to the top-level and not WWE.

Sorry to those who expected Corgan to show up to the next Wrestlemania or compete for the Undisputed Championship.

Also in the interview Corgan talked about expanding Resistance Pro Wrestling and the idea of making it a national brand saying the following:

“We want to be able to expand to where we’re a national brand and can run pretty much anywhere in the country,” Corgan said. “My name and my access to certain things get help get us there, but it doesn’t mean we’re ready for that. We’re better off being a little bit more conservative.”
