GASLIGHT ANTHEM TALKS NEXT ALBUM, HOW THEY WANT TO BE LIKE PEARL JAM
The Gaslight Anthem may have taken inspiration from Pearl Jam for this year’s Handwritten, but as the band prepares to make another album next year, they choose an unlikely source of inspiration from the Pearl Jam discography.
“I want to do the No Code record, that one,” singer Brian Fallon told Rolling Stone. ”They did these three rock records, and [then] they all of a sudden went left turn. And everybody went, ‘What the hell?’ Then later, five years, they went, ‘This is amazing.’”
“Pearl Jam, Neil Young, those are my big two as far as, ‘I don’t care at all what people think, this is what I’m doing,’” he said. “It’s not that they don’t care about their audience – they’re searching for something inside.”

Sure. And I’d like to be the new Bob Dylan.
And I want to be the Britney Spears of rock music.
i want to be famous wheres my article
No Code really is a great album, it just takes time after listening to it to settle in.
Cool. These guys are great.
Looks like rock and roll is here to stay (a little longer).
I was very disappointed with No Code when it first was released because it followed the fantastic Vitalogy. But the album has grown on me through the years and it’s really good especially after Binaural’s release which is the only album I don’t care for. As for Gaslight Anthem, they’re pretty good.
So rock is alive after all. Good stuff. I like these guys. Just good down-home rock. I don’t think know how to write a bad song.
Creed & Nicleback are what you end up like if they want to do what they are saying. Get your own sound & direction & it will be the best thing you will ever do. It is a bit old now bands trying to copy PJ, it just doesnt work!!
Yeah these guys are great, and put on a damn impressive live show. Love to see their appreciation for PJ and Young, I’m sure they will succeed–they haven’t put out a bad album yet.
unlikely source of inspiration? that album is nothing but inspiration!
