BILLY CORGAN SAYS ALEX JONES ‘BROKE PEOPLE’S HYPNOSIS’ DURING DEBATE WITH PIERS MORGAN ON GUN CONTROL

By: 11 January 2013 29 Comments

Alex Jones appeared on Piers Morgan’s show on CNN a couple of days ago to debate gun control. On Jones’ radio show he said that after the interview, Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, his friend and a listener of the show, sent a text message that said, ‘Alex you broke people’s hypnosis, you couldn’t have done a better job.’

Honestly every single comment or interview that Billy Corgan makes doesn’t have to be posted on the site.

    Shocked this wasn’t a headliner.

I agree with Paul. We don’t need a story on anything and everything even slightly related to BC. This site covers LOTS of bands now, so Billy shouldn’t have stories every day.

  • Brett Buchanan (author) said:

Paul, got to keep the stream of content flowing. All of the other guys we cover get their political opinions covered as well.

Versus, we cover a lot of veteran bands who are mostly inactive.

I love Billy’s music and am saddened and disapointed if he really is friends with this Jones wacko.

Alex is just another super right wing tool.

  • Mike said:

1st he’s wresting dork, now BC is buds with Alex Jones, who probably thinks Shady Hook was an inside job. Next BC will join Westboro Baptist Church. Just lost any respect for BC I had left!

Alex Jones isn’t much different than any other talk show host. The only difference is he’s neither a republican or democrat. It’s his job to be controversial, so you usually either love or hate the guy. People forget it’s a profession, and many times all talk show hosts are trying to do is get people riled up and talk about them. Look at Limbaugh: the guy is hated by so many, but he’s extremely rich because he knows how to be controversial and keep people talking about him.

  • Jay said:

This explains a lot. As much as I liked his band when I was a kid, there comes a time, when you just have to let some people go. C-ya Billy.

Liberals are always so easily offended. Truth hurts.

Alex Jones is also friends with Dave Mustaine, what a bunch of fucking whackjobs. If Alex Jones got in a car accident he’d think the guy who hit him was probably sent by the evil tyrannical government and was paid off by Bill Maher.

  • Butthead said:

Who cares about politics??? Politics suck. Both sides are full of idiots.

    @Brett,
I agree with you in keeping content flowing and being able to post about musician’s political opinions. I’m not really criticizing you and I believe you do a lot of great work. However, Billy Corgan is the only musician whose every comment, setlist, and video is posted to the site. If filler articles such as these help to keep content flowing, then I believe that the filler should have more variety.

Politics. Tired of the smoke and mirrors of politicians. Meh.

  • Mike said:

Alex Jones is right, whether you like him or not.

  • Brett Buchanan (author) said:

Paul, it’s really because Corgan does 10x more interviews than anybody else covered on here. If it was Chris Cornell, Anthony Kiedis, or Scott Weiland who did a million interviews/appeared on tons of shows then they’d have the most stories on here.

Alex Jones is a paranoia profiteer piece of shit rabble rouser end of the world zealot. Calling that a debate is giving Alex Jones WAY too much credit, and it’s just a blatant lie. Even if you are a gun supporter, all Alex Jones did was look like a fucking prick, and do so while supporting YOUR argument. People: If you reject the mainstream and don’t trust our system, it doesn’t mean that this guy is your friend just because he does too. Listen to his interview with Noam Chomsky. The second anyone has a differing opinion than his about things like gun control (especially gun control) they are automatically a New World Order shill and are tools of the system, in his eyes. The guy is an intransigent hot head. I wanted to believe him, when I was younger I watched the Obama deception and I thought Jones was tits, but he’s so full of shit, trust.

Deviate and Butthead nailed it. Heaven forbid there be one conservative news show or that they be popular on talk radio. DWI. Conversely, most politicians are idiots.

  • RickDeckardFan said:

Preach the truth, brother. Alex Jones makes money by making ignorant people feel smart.

Political opinions? Everyday? I “Thought” we agreed to NOT have politics on this MUSIC site. I mean this doesn’t really bother me… I’m the one that clicked on it, but there is music news to be reporting… You should report about the announcement of Mudhoney’s European tour, or talk about the new Mudhoney/Melvins split record.. maybe you could find out a little more information on AIC new video.. which by the way is still badass. MUSIC…yeah

Billy Butthole Corgan has decided to be friends with a scumbag of a media personality such as Alex the Asshole Jones! Hey Mr. Corgan, are you saying you actually agree with what Alex Jones said to Piers Morgan on the issue of gun violence and gun owners rights in America?? The guy is a fucking lunatic with some political chip ( right wing or left wing ) on his shoulders, just go back to making your midlife crises albums like Oceania and SHUT THE FUCK UP, we are sick of your crap. You understand ?? Thank god Soundgarden are NOT this annoying. Sure Chris Cornell makes political statements occasionally but at least he keeps his views in the context of rock music, not being friends with political zealots like Jones and his co-horts of post 9/11 , JFK hacks

When the original Smashing Pumpkins were around in the 1990s making their debut alternative rock albums, I was really interested in Billy Corgan as a musician and human being but this guy has now become such a media whore , going on all these talk shows like on Alex Jones and stuff, its like if you can spend this much time, energy and focus on spouting your political views, why cant you also focus more on your bands music?? Why cant you get it together with the original members of the Smashing Pumpkins and bring back the glory that was 90s angst filled alternative rock n roll music?? This guy has become more and more irritating throughout the years , anyone else agree??

never payed much attention to anything mainstream. all controlled by the same entities it seems. left right all the same to me.

but i lived for a spell in san bernardino cal for a stretch. those streets were overtaken by thugs with guns to the point that even the police suggested carrying arms. there was no 911 gonna save anyone in time. that was over 20 years ago.

where is or was the outrage and attention to the unlawful terrorists that carry and dont abide by any law? there is ZERO. and those statistics of daily murders rapes robberies will never be shown on the tv or much else. it is political. i cant tell you how much suffering there was for many there. shootings regularly in my own apt building. no media coverage. happens in towns and cities nationwide every single day. i got out. many didnt.

morgan and all like him are protected BY GUNS. total hypocrisy.

back to the music. for me its not billy tonight tho.

Most post I’ve read are not getting Billys stance. You have to watch his interview with Alex to understand his stance. I don’t know Alex very well and my 1st experience with him was Piers Morgan. And when I saw Billy being interviewed by him I was like WHAT!!?? But listen to the interveiw. The MAIN point both men are making is that REAL debate is vital to the UNited States of America and we seem to be living in an era where there are too many just blindly following. I’m not sure how much else they really have in common but it is an interesting union but really it is what makes and has made america special. Which is our right to dissent and have our own opinions. When we lose that then isn’t freedom lost too?

Grungecaster—-My friend interviewed Chris Cornell back in the early 90′s and said he was dumber than a bag of hammers. Chris couldn’t hold his own intellectually with Bill for 2 seconds.
