BILLY CORGAN PARTS WAYS WITH HIS MADAME ZUZU’S TEAHOUSE BUSINESS PARTNER
From The Chicago Tribune‘s new interview with Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan:
For reasons Corgan declines to get into, he recently parted company with his business partner. His hopes of drawing performers and presenters through open submissions haven’t panned out.
The occasional musical set by Corgan, who performed as part of the salon’s opening festivities, won’t hurt Madame ZuZu’s fortunes. But he knows the salon’s success will depend more on the clientele’s participation. “I don’t want me to be the driver,” he says. “That would be bad business.”

Billy Corgan has a problem working with someone. I’m shocked.
Way to again miss the first 10 paragraphs of this article, and write up a “story” on this site making it having to do with something else entirely… Brett your such a prick dude! You and people like you are why our music community is like this. Where is the reporting on how Corgan is trying to build a safe creative community, and a place for the people of this Chicago neiborhood to hang out in without having to get drunk or fucked up, and can actually come to talk??? And I mean the article written by a real writer at the Chicago Tribune, not this crap once again found on this website…
Seriously man, I and a lot of other people have been holding out for this site to actually take charge and make a positive impact on music, there’s so many other areas of music that are starting to finally go well again, but then it just gets shit on by stupid little kids who would rather turn everything they touch into a TMZ report so they can go on their facebook and twitters so excited about how many hits their website got.
Get a life. Do whatever you want, but don’t trash music for other people. How about creating and reporting on the value of music, and the positive things in it? Instead of letting your butt buddy magic mike talk about raping women and somehow relate it to our bands that the people come to this site to follow.
P.S. – How about an actual link to the Chicago Tribune’s article, or just copy, paste, and steal it like half your other “stories” so people can see what good writing and reporting is like – not to mention a lot of the amazing things Corgan is trying to do with this tea shop/community hang out place here in Chicago.
P.S.S.- I’ve got 2 tickets to Sound City Players first show at Sundance in Utah on 1/18. Driving out day after tmrw, 36 hour round trip! Haha fuckers…

Chris you are overreacting like this about a tea house. Imagine when something really important happens.
But… he did post the link to the article…
“From The Chicago Tribune‘s new interview with Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan:” <~~~*The Chicago Tribune* is in blue, a *link*.
I believe you overreacted a bit Chris. Brett posts volumes of news about Billy here, including any new business ventures. Brett couldn't post entire articles, it would mess up the design and purpose of this site. You can pick and choose who you want to read about and explore further if a topic interests you. I like it. It's a good site.

You're very fortunate. Rubbing it into people's faces does not show a degree of gratitude to the Universe for your good fortune.
Drive safely.
The link was changed, earlier it just went directly to the Chicago Tribune’s home page, not to the actual article… How many of you went and read the actual article? It was good, I was surprised after reading this “report”.
It’s not this article today, it’s all the articles everyday. I’ve been reading grungereport.net since it started, and I’m commenting obviously of the collective whole. It’s this article, and 90% of the other ones… Do you see there’s like 15,000+ people or likes, or whatever the hell it is at grungereport.net? That’s a a pretty big following of people who come to this website, a lot of which actually think their reading “news”. Now how many of those people don’t know better, and take this “news” as the real deal straight from these bands? Also, a pretty big chunk of them… So how do you think the perspectives and the way people think of these bands changes over time reading bs after bs story here? I love these bands, but the stories here almost make me have a bitter taste in my mouth about them – and that totally sucks. So how do you think people learning about these bands and getting into their music for the first time feel?
Some of us are out there daily taking an active approach to changing what music has become about in today’s world. That hard work is eroded daily by people and websites like these that repeatedly fail to take some sort of different stance than the mainstream – because it’s empty and meaningless, it’s gone the next day. It seems to reflect the actual personalities of today’s mainstream/average person. The next American Idol it “it”, right?
I just thought anyone who was actually involved in music enough to not miss a day of posting articles on bands, someone who probably considers themselves or aspires to be a music journalist, (not to mention actually creating music themselves) – would take some sort of social responsibility with the articles and “reports” they put out there for all these people that come to read it everyday, the majority of which I’m sure who are those same mainstream/average people.
“some of us are out there daily taking an active approach to changing what music has become about in today’s world” … seriously? what is it you do that accomplishes this? don’t be so pretentious. this is just one of thousands of music sites you could go to. if you don’t like it don’t read it.
If you read the headline/article here and then read the full real article, you wouldn’t even think it was the same story.
I’ll admit that I agree with a lot of what Chris J. says here. I have also been holding out and hoping for this site to turn into something more than what it has become. When Brett was looking for more writers/reporters, I thought the site would be changing. I figured the site would have less trash articles and would become more professional and reputable. Unfortunately, the opposite has been the case. It doesn’t take a genius to realize this starts with the rubbish that Magic Mike adds to this site. To the writers here: is this just a hobby for you to kill time, or is it your goal to become a music journalist one day?
Woah guys! Nice to see that Billy Corgan decided to stop on by under the “Chris J” moniker hahaha
But honestly… Who outside of that small area of Chicago would really be interested about all the small details regarding a tea shop that Corgan is promoting?
The only really newsworthy part of the article regarding Corgan to the every day viewer here is that hes know longer a co owner of this place.. Thus why Brett used it as his headline…
Not sure whats so hard to grasp about that?
Wait, so Corgan pulled out, or his business partner did?
I think some articles on here are kind of crappy sometimes too, and it can get a little TTMZistic.. Basically either making a mockery of someone, or obsessing over some minute boring everyday type of detail. I mean I really don’t need to know a musician’s political views… Unless he or she is running for office I really don’t care one bit.
That Mike guy is just a copy/paste reporter and when he writes it’s always garbage, ie: Taylor Momsen’s tits.
I know its hard to find a good writer especially when no one is getting paid, but I don’t think any random person should be writing for the site.
I also can understand the problem of having limited content and the need to reach sometimes to find something relative to the topic. Changing from such a narrow genre was a good idea for the sites future. Also, traffic is great if you’re getting paid, but if you’re not, then who cares about the traffic.
I got a feelin you guys like to post bad stuff about billy
