STONE TEMPLE PILOTS FRONTMAN SCOTT WEILAND WORKING ON NEW MUSIC

By: 15 January 2013 10 Comments

(Possibly former) Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland worked on a few new songs yesterday with his solo band guitarist Doug Grean, according to Grean’s Facebook. It could be for a new solo album, as weiland last release Happy in Galoshes was over four years ago and Slash recently claimed that Weiland has been fired by Stone Temple Pilots.

Weiland is planning a solo tour for sometime this year according to his Facebook. He hasn’t revealed whether he will be playing new material. Weiland’s most recent album of new material was Stone Temple Pilots’ 2010 self-titled album.

I really hope this asshole realises how much he sucks and fucking retires already !!!!!!!!!!!!!! The pilots were awesome but scotts voice was never that impressive , Anybody could easily stand in for him and do ten times the job he did ! The ego of scott has really led me to dislike him and his voice has never stood out or held up to the greats like vedder and cornell so im hoping he will just fuck off so we dont have to hear about him anymore ! Just my humble worthless opinion !

Wow that’s pretty humble and only deemed worthless due to lack of intelligence. You can’t even read the rules before posting. Wonder what you consider the greats as you mention. Ones that disappear for 10 or more years and come back to top up their bank accounts. Or singers that can scream the loudest and have a very unique voice. Or Ones that can cover multiple keys and octaves.

Being able to cover multiple keys and octaves does not a great singer make , just one of many who has all the theory but but not enough balls to pull anything truly great off ! I just dont think that scott is as great as his own ego seems to think he is , According to his bandmates he seems like such a cock to be in a band with and my point was that i dont know why people bother with him !

@mandingo: Are you kidding? You’ve now made it obvious that you know nothing about music or the technicals of singing. Scott is a master lyricist, killer vocalist and the king of stage presence. A complete frontman. He continues to amaze me the way he composes melodies that are totally unobvious, by not singing with the music, but singing something that is on a different pattern and movement yet fitting so perfectly.

He is and always will be one of the greats. Regardless whether you like someone or not, their skill and ability should be acknowledged.

@mandingo Scott has like ten different voices, saying he is a good Singer is an understatement. I noticed you said he “seems like a cock to be in a band with”. You know Layne Staley drastically held AIC back so do you criticize. him? probably not because you’re a drone who says what people want to hear

@mandingo you are way off base. STP is a unique band and very diverse both musically and vocally. Weiland can go from heavy songs like Sex Type Thing to eerily mirroring soft ballads like Atlanta.

It was the stupid media’s fault for calling him an Eddie Vedder ripoff because they came out with Plush and then everyone jumped on Scott for trying to sound like Eddie. Scott’s vocals are unique and couldn’t be replaced by anyone.

Everybody hates Scott but everybody listens to his songs. The vocal melodies that he did on all STP albums are legendary. One of the catchiest melodies in r’n'r. Yes he is a big troublemaker yes he sucks live now a days but he still got it man. Nobody can replace Scott in STP
that is simply awesome chemistry between DeLeos Kretz and him.
@Mandingo you don’t know shit about music. You don’t know what beauty in music is you don’t know what good melodie is so you better shut d f up!
