RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE’S BRAD WILK TO PLAY DRUMS ON NEW BLACK SABBATH ALBUM

By: 16 January 2013 14 Comments

Former Rage Against The Machine/Audioslave drummer Brad Wilk will be the drummer on Black Sabbath’s new album 13, set for release in June. He will be filling in for original drummer Bill Ward, who backed out of the reunion for legal reasons last year. Wilk has a history with the producer of the album, Rick Rubin. Rubin produced Rage Against The Machine’s covers album Renegades and Audioslave’s first two albums.

Wilk isn’t expected to tour with Sabbath, as the band did not reveal who would drum for their 2013 tour dates. Tommy Clufetos from Ozzy Osbourne’s solo band drummed for Sabbath last year.

“Former Rage Against the Machine” drummer? Might not be active, but they’re still together.

Interesting that they chose him for the album, though.

I put that because they haven’t played together in a year and a half. Get off your asses and do something.

Congrats Brad! The dude has worked with ratm, a slave and now Sabbath, he may not be the greatest of drummers but he sure knows how to involve himself in great projects

Shame Ward couldn’t work without contract, like the rest of them.

” he sure knows how to involve himself in great projects ”

Rage Against the Machine is a ‘project’? Dude, he and Morello were founding members of Rage.

Shadow of the Sun…BINGO. In the article it states he has a history with Rick Rubin. If that isn’t a recommendation within rock cirlces, I don’t know what is.

  • puzzz said:

you know they are smoking mad bud in that studio

  • Triz said:

Mike “Puffy” Borden to fill back in?

  • Shadow on the Sun said:

@cosmicatomic ratm WAS a full time band that can only be referred to at this point as a project. A slave was also a full time band that ended thus becoming a project he was involved in.

Black Sabbath with only 3/4 of the lineup is not Black Sabbath. This is about $$$ and not about <3<3<3. Fuck Ozzy and his white trash money-grubbing wife. Why even call it a reunion if one of your original members isn't partaking because you're low-balling him?

I read the first sentence of the article, said “holy shit, RATM broke up?”, Googled it and came up with nothing. Then I came back here and read the comment section…

So now Grungereport.net decides what bands people aren’t in anymore based on when they last played together? Did I seriously just read that? This is how bullshit internet rumors start.

Solid music journalism, guys. Rolling Stone magazine, go fuck yourself.
