SCOTT WEILAND TO PERFORM MORE HIT SONGS AT SOLO SHOWS

By: 8 February 2013 15 Comments

Scott Weiland’s guitarist Doug Grean discussed Weiland’s upcoming tour on his Facebook, “According to Scott (he told me two days ago) we are playing the best of Purple and the best of Core. I have been telling him for years that the fans want more STP hits. The deep cuts are great but most fans want hits. So now he is finally decided to do just that.”

Scott Weiland 2013 Tour Dates:

March 2, 2013- Transverse City, MI- Streeters

Fuck the hits! Deep cuts is what makes stp great. One word to describe them would be “Diversity”.

So Mr. Grean wants to play Interstate Love Song for the 80th time instead of learning Still Remains?

Great. These shows could have gotten some interest. Now it’s just going to be more of the same, except minus the Deleos.

Who wants to see Doug Grean play the songs that Dean Deleo wrote? NO ONE.

Its a crying shame they can’t get STP to work properly.

Scott solo albums are kind of MEH.

STP + Scott has the magic. Scott on his own doesn’t.

We can all agree that Doug Grean is an enabling douchebag.

Dinosaur Jr. Came to DC a couple of years ago and played Bug from front to back. It was amazing and sold out. I expected the hits, but I was excited to see some deep cuts played live. To hear that no deep cuts will be performed is disappointing. At least play “Wet my bed”. Doug won’t have to stress his pretty little head over learning that one. You can’t come up in my ‘hood and not rock a deep cut. When it comes to art Shaw Howard/U street is hardcore DC.

@bmeade: “You can’t come up in my ‘hood and not rock a deep cut,” is the best line ever written anywhere ever.

Man, if Scott hasn’t already been sacked from STP, he’s doing his damnedest to make it so. Going out on a solo jaunt and playing hits he wrote with other people is a slap in the face to the other 3/4 of STP.

What kind of statement is he trying to make by doing this? Or is his ex-wife fleecing him so bad he has to stoop to this level?

    Niagara* not Niagra..

Btw, the Rapids Theater is billing the show as Scott playing Core and Purple in their entirety.

I have a lot more respect for Scott. He’s going out and trying to make the fans happy. The D brothers and Kretz are happy sitting at home doing nothing.

Sweet, bring out ‘Lounge Fly’, ‘Art School Girl’, if you want deep cuts how about ‘About A Fool’, ‘Samba Nova’, ‘Only Dying’, ‘Scary Area’, and ‘Heed the Water Whispers’.

I WENT TO SCOTT SOLO SHOWS BECAUSE OF THE B-SIDES AND DIVERSE SETLISTS!

  • Cobainsweater said:

Just stating the obvious here, but there must be something seriously wrong in the STP camp if Scott is going out solo to play Core and Purple in their entirety without the rest of STP.

If STP did this, they could probably make some huge bank once the first few shows proved to their fans that the band were on the same page.
