PROMOTIONAL POSTER RELEASED FOR SCOTT WEILAND’S THE PURPLE AT THE CORE TOUR TOUR

By: 10 February 2013 31 Comments

A new promotional poster has been announced for (possibly former) Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland’s The Purple At The Core Tour, which says ‘featuring the hits from the classic albums Core and Purple.’  Weiland has also announced a show for March 6, 2013 at The Emporium in Patchouge, New York. The ticket page for that show says ‘Performing STP’s Core and Purple.’ The promotional material has really contradicted itself, with some outlets saying he’ll play Core and Purple front to back and others just saying he’ll perform the hits. I don’t think this bodes well for Stone Temple Pilots and adds validity to the rumors that Weiland has been fired, or that the band has split. Since relaunching his solo career in 2008 Weiland has sparingly performed STP radio hits at his solo shows, leaving those for STP shows.

    LAME!

This is kinda ironic, since he made a big deal about making new music – not a greatest hits tour. I am sure someone else has most likely stated this already.

  • ShaneC said:

The 2 dudes in the band, standing behind him, look just like him. Kiss ass much? Jesus!

    Yes, i’m joking.

Unfortunately, I have come to believe that anything in Weiland’s future is going to suck. Hard. I hate that because he was once my favourite frontman.

I’d really like to see the Deleo’s start a fresh new band. Also, Weiland should do the same, just carry on making NEW Rock N Roll.

Maybe a few scattered STP dates over the years.

The county fairs will come calling soon. Scott Weiland performing by the zipper and chili dog stand!

If there’s a picture of weiland without a scarf after 2009, I’d like to see it. :-P

I don´t know, man… it just does not sound like a good idea.

Coming to a county fair near you!
Seriously…if tickets are more than $10 it’s just a flat out joke.

Missed opportunity: Should have the called the backing band The Weildabouts.

Scott, get your head straight and go be a pilot again.

    Drop. Dead. Sexy.

I can hardly wait to try and get a ticket; it’s going to rule.

JUST the hits?? So is the setlist going to be this:

    Sex type Thing
    Plush
    Wicked Garden
    Creep
    Vasoline
    Big Empty
    Interstate Love Song

    Short and rather dull show.

I don’t see the DeLeo brothers starting a new band but I could be wrong.
Richard Patrick is going to be pretty busy with the new Filter album so any Army of Anyone wouldn’t happen for a while.

Maybe they could reform Talk Show? Who are singers not doing much: Travis Meeks, Royston Langdon.

Way to cut out your bandmates from a tour and paying gig…or converesely this confirms he was fired…

  • BillyL said:

    @ ed

If anything, it’s probably more a case of the other STP members not wanting to do this with Weiland, so he has to do it by himself.

    one direction rules

  • Mia said:

Could they have made him look more like a douche in that poster? Three of himself, looking in every direction with red, white and blue scarves? This has got to be the cheesiest poster I have ever seen.

he looks the star of my fav porn movie – boned on the 4th of july

LEAVE Scott Weiland alone, hes just busy doing a political poster :)
    Red Republican Scott
    Blue Democratic Scott

    :) enjoy

and I would love to see a one man Scott Weiland show, instead of singing the STP songs, how about he just does a spoken word tour??

I THINK THE STONE TEMPLE PILOTS SHOULD HOOK UP WITH THE FOO FIGHTERS AND EVERYONE WILL BE HAPPY :)

THE STONE TEMPLE FOO FIGHTERS :) STFF

Hope he comes to Canada. Should be an awesome show.

  • John said:

This better come to the UK. Even if he isn’t as good a singer as he used to be, I still want to at least be able to say I’ve seen him and his music live.

  • Curmudgeon said:

    I’d pay to see it

  • Crazies said:

well at least he isn’t making another dreadful x-mas album.

  • paulonious said:

I wouldn’t go see him solo live. Nothing but a wannabe Bowie. Too bad VR won’t take him back. This band rocked better than STP ever did.

  • Brett Buchanan (author) said:

Grungecaster, a Scott spoken word tour would probably set the world record for the amount of times the word ‘uh’ has been uttered.

  • CORE said:

Fuck that guy. I hope STP finds a new singer.

  • Curmudgeon said:

    STP tried a new singer….
    The result… Talk Show…

  • Grungecaster 1 said:

Yeah I know Brett :) hehe

seems like we are dissing on poor SCOTT WEILAND

this guy used to be the coolest rock n roll guy in Alternative Rock history , next to Kurt Cobain, Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell, and maybe Billy Corgan but damm, he sure has changed a lot, aged a lot too

I think its time the STONE TEMPLE PILOTS DISBAND once and for all, its the year 2013: time to move on to better rock n roll music for everyone, im sure we can all agree on that .

  • Hawk900 said:

Core in it;s entirety. I best be hearing my Naked Sunday then.

  • laynelivesforever said:

hey, Scott likes scarves and what’s it to you, anyway?
a beautiful man and fantastic performer

  • Wam Meesly said:

Seems this is essentially any STP show of the past few years, sans the original band.

  • Andrea said:

Really people…nothing better to do than rag on Scott?? If you are a fan-ANYTHING that Scott does it a hit. No one asked you to go to the show. No one asked you to make a lame comment. I could say so much about so many other artists, but choose not to. Scott Weiland is an amazing singer songwriter and I belive he may have actually turned things around in his lefe. But leave it up to some of you folks to always find the bad..

And yes I do make spelling mistakes…
