According to Chicagobusiness Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan will be appearing in a series of commercials for Illinois based furniture chain – Walter E. Smithe. The reason? To promote his wrestling company – Resistance Pro.

Here is what Corgan had to say:

“Branding anything these days is a real challenge. We have to build credibility in the wrestling community. It’s based on visibility and name recognition.” And what better way to get visibility than with a local brand like Walter E. Smithe”

So, BillCo is down on 90′s bands playing their greatest hits on tours and slams Soundgarden for releasing an album that would sound right at home in the 90′s, but then he goes and does….furniture commercials?

I totally get it. Billy wants to revolutionize the furniture commercial market with new and edgy content. Take furniture commercials to the next level. No way those furniture commercials will sounds like they were made in the 90′s, no sir, not here. =)

Not a wrestling fan, but it’s pretty cool and respectable that Billy is doing this completely DIY. Pretty much built this company from the ground up.
