Recently we reported that Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan will be starring in a series of commercials for Walter E. Smithe, an Illinois based furniture chain to get publicity for his wrestling promotion Resistance Pro. The first ad has been released. You can view it below and we hope it is the first of many.

    I just realized I’ve never seen Billy Corgan laugh ever, all these years. Now I know why.

    Why? Because that’s a Walter E. Smithe chair! That’s why!

    speaking of cash grab. this douche hasn’t done anything relevent since the mid 90s

  • Mia said:

    After watching this video I have realized that Billy Corgan sort of looks like Karl Pilkington from An Idiot Abroad.

    Whatever makes him happy! True I hope they record new music soon though.

    And to “Jesus” here, Billy and SP made the best album from any band covered here since the launch of the site last year si if you please..

  • jesus said:

    i take it back. this is actually funny. and of course Oceania was great.

  • shoegazer said:

    @jesus Seriously? Nothing relevant since the mid 90s? You may hate the guy, and you have the right, but this is the stupidest thing I’ve read all week. Adore not relevant? It’s probably his best album, jackass. Oceania not relevant? Obviously you didn’t take the time to listen, because it’s brilliant. Right now he’s making better music than anyone else covered here at Grungereport.

    Thank you Shoegazer, that makes me happy. Some sense! :)

  • jesus said:

    @shoegazer

    is said Oceania is good. what is your problem dude? don’t have a cow

  • jesus said:

    Billy rocks!

  • ejsme said:

    @Mia – had to google the name to see who you were talking about but you’re totally right!!!

  • matt said:

    @shoegazer hahaha Oceania relevant?

  • jjc19461 said:

    HEY BILLY! “IF YOU HATE SOMETHING, DON’T YOU DO IT TOO!”

  • jesus said:

    oceania is garbage. i’d rather listen to this commercial on repeat than be forced to listen to a single track from oceania. just a glorified billy solo album, has no merit or musical value other than a coaster for drink.

  • Magic Mike Mazzarone (author) said:

    I would like to listen to this commercial on repeat just because it’s so hilarious.

  • jesus said:

    i haven’t really listened to Oceania btw

  • Cobainsweater said:

    This 30 second commercial is better than the entire duration of Oceania, bar “Pale Horse”

  • Justin said:

    jesus: you cant say it’s garbage if you barely listened to it

  • Justin said:

    this was better than commercials i see usually…

  • matt said:

    Oceania graduates Smashing Pumpkins from being a forward moving innovative band to being old and making “family rock” exactly like Collective Soul would.

  • matt said:

    Collective Soul 4life!
