SCOTT WEILAND RESPONDS TO BEING FIRED BY STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, PLANS LEGAL ACTION
Former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland posted the following on his Facebook page:
I learned of my supposed “termination” from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press. Not sure how I can be “terminated” from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that’s something for the lawyers to figure out. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to seeing all of my fans on my solo tour which starts this Friday.”

Don’t really know how to see this as I can’t imagine any attempt at continuing as STP without all four of the guys making up the band. Guess we’ll find out
Although I can’t blame the other guys for being fed up with Scott’s shenanigans, it’s fucking dumb for them to “fire” him. What does that mean anyway? There’s no band without Scott.
Just disband and screw it.
Fuck it all, this was doomed from the fucking start.
Hire Ed Kowalcyzk!
I call bullshit. Slash knew about this months ago but Scott didn’t until this morning?
It’s another in a long string of lies by Scott, from making up the VR reunion to denying being fired to denying knowing he was fired. Scott knew when Slash did and has been trying not to let it get out.
When did everyone in music start being a bitch and forget that Scott is a fuckin’ rockstar! SO he acts like one..

“Not sure how I can be “terminated” from a band that I founded…” Exactly.
I hope it’s not true.
I hope we don’t get two STP’s.
Scott is a douchebag and a joke. I have a hard time deciding if Scott is a bigger d-bag than Corgan. The Deleo bros are the true talents of that band and look forward to fully supporting their next project.
Sounds like good marketing strategy. This statement is just released and Scotts solo tour starts in 2 days
It’s better STP break up for the third time in its story instead of replacing Scott. If they replace Scott with a guy like Chad Kroeger or Scott Stamp, boy, STP would be a joke, killing the legacy the gained in the 90′s.
Scott will continue on as the true STP and the twins can call it quits as they will see that no one can do what he did. Who can hold that megaphone they way he use to with his hip bent sideways?
my bet is their “firing” him is just a pre-emptive strike so he can’t use the name.
paulonious, I wonder if that could be why they announced it publically. There’s definitely got to be more to the story. There always is with this band…
If Scott found out about his termination via the press, then the rest of the band should be embarrassed of themselves for not being man enough to tell him to his face.
If he knew earlier, maybe his ego and pride didn’t want him to believe it, but had it happened earlier I still think they would have announced something earlier on the website or at least said both parties had an amicable split or a it was a mutual decision.
come on folks. just business. he is making a record with his new band so stp is probably under contract with atlantic for one more album. no worries. going to go slap the ham. army of anyone sucked balls. they disappeared faster than jeff ross’s fans after the burn aired
Same vicious circle? Weiland find something else to do for a while (solo album, velvet revolver.. whatever). STP finds a different singer (Talk Show, Army of Anyone) but can’t match the success they have when they play as STP. After a few years of mediocrity they ask Scott to come back (Even knowing his shortfalls). They play for a few years and the cycle repeats….
I think he handled it well. A very Chris Cornell kinda answer.
I gave up on STP in 2002. I like the old songs, but they aren’t a band worth following the dramas of 15 years past their prime.
“When did everyone in music start being a bitch and forget that Scott is a fuckin’ rockstar! SO he acts like one..”
That’s the poorest fucking excuse I’ve ever heard. Are you high? There is a responsibility to your band and your fans being in Scott’s position. The ‘partying rock star’ image doesn’t mean dick if it includes showing up 2 hours late for a show, repeatedly, fumbling your ass through songs and forgetting lyrics, canceling dates, canceling tours, fuck that. There comes a point to shape the fuck up.
They can’t have the same success unless it’s the 4 of them, period ! Get past the issues, realize this is a BIG mistake and move forward. Don’t ruin your legacy.
This dude is a fucking mess. God bless the Deleo brothers. It’s a shame they had to put up with this dude’s garbage for so long and it only kept getting worse.
Yeah, because that’s what makes a great band, one that is held together by lawyers forbidding the members to fire each other. Take it like a man, Scott. You fucked up.
douches here, douches there, douches are fukken everywhere..
Lawyers! Lawsuits! Litigations!
Well at least now they all have a way to rake in some cash.
Peace
WOW!! First Dream Theater, then Queensryche, then Slayer. Now STP. These rock bands have all fired their most importent key members. And all are in the middle of some litigations as a result of these firings.
WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do wonder who has the legal right over the band, and who can actually fire someone in the band. I would imagine it’s a majority decision to 86 Scott. But what happened in the past when the officially broke up? Who did it? Do they still have another album to through Atlantic? I wouldn’t mind seeing remaining STP members do a AIC move, if they can find someone w a voice as good or better then Weilands. Which isn’t impossible by the least IMO. Then have them tour for many years straight all over the world after making that final album in the contract, if true. Now that would the ideal way to get back at Scott’s immaturity.
