DAVE GROHL REACTS TO NIRVANA BEING COVERED ON AMERICAN IDOL

Last month Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl turned on the television to see American Idol contestant Casey Abrams covering Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit, the first time ever a Nirvana song was covered on the popular singing competition.
“I watched that and I was really touched actually and kind of freaked out because the kid who picked Smells Like Teen Spirit picked it because it was released the year he was born,” Grohl says during a Toronto promotional stop the band’s new album Wasting Light. “So I turned it off — no actually I watched it.
“I think Nirvana’s music has become something that it wasn’t 20 years ago.
Twenty years ago I don’t think it had the same relevance that it does now and at some point you just have to let go of it you know and let it become whatever it’s going to become. That being said I was just the drummer, so I don’t really make licensing decisions. It is what it is.”
Nevertheless, that fucking kid slaughtered SLTS.
People shouldn’t be allowed to desecrate grunge music on American Idol. No one should be exposed to Nirvana through an audition on that shit show.

I saw a clip on the news of a kid covering Soundgarden’s Outshined from idol and i must say he was hitting those notes pretty damn good. Its worthless to argue about it, every generation’s rock music gets recycled and played by others. I’m sure the Kinks and the Who are over the fact that their stuff gets covered, plus maybe they like it, at least it shows that kids today really enjoy 90′s rock and are discovering some of the decades best bands. Time marches on and these songs mean new things to younger kids, its inevitable.
I just found out that Jared Leto posted video of himself dressed as Kurt and singing Rape Me. I’ve gotta look for this now. lol

American idol is the best talent search ever, i generally watch it in my TV jointly with my buddies and relatives. ,..*: Kind regards physical health pages
