About

GrungeReport.net launched in May 2009 and covers active Seattle Grunge bands like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Mudhoney, and others. We also cover other 90′s alternative rock/Grunge era bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane’s Addiction, Hole, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age, the Pixies, Garbage, and others.

The word Grunge is obviously mainly associated with the Seattle bands, but GrungeReport.net covers all of the great bands from the Grunge/Generation X era of the 1990′s.  We also cover the bands that helped pave the way for alternative rock’s explosion in popularity in the 90′s like Jane’s Addiction and the Pixies, and bands who have members who played roles in bands from the Grunge era like Queens of the Stone Age and Garbage.

I’d love to see you guys cover modern grunge bands like Fermented Sloths. They put out an amazing album called McBoneyard of Christ in 2008 and have a new album due out in May this year, got 750 listeners on last.fm without even touring… and they have their stuff on last.fm for free. Don’t those guys at least deserve more listeners?

@Raoul Eban I created this facebook page called “Spread the word of good newer grunge bands” http://www.facebook.com/pages/Spread-the-word-of-good-newer-grunge-bands/192998060774625 for more exposure to newer grunge bands. Thanks for the suggestion, I’ve added them to the page.

Bono said his ultimate goal in music is to someday be like Coldplay. I don’t know, I’d say that means they must be pretty awesome.

  • Sulu0267 said:

There’s a member over on the Jerry Cantrell comment section who is harassing another member. He called her a “cunt” and told her to log off. I think something needs to be done about this.

This site is great, man. Love being able to just say what you want and have discussions with people who are actually familiar with the era.

  • Beth said:

Love the site. Don’t you consider Blind Melon a part of this movement. Maybe not grunge exactly but definately a part of the early 90′s sound. I loved Shannon Hoon’s voice but sadly he left us too.

Grungereport is one of my favorite sites and I check it out daily. You guys do a great job. It’s perfect for anyone who grew up in the 90s and/or follows bands from that era.

The report is America Centric. And the fact that grunge had expanded more than that…

  • Jake K said:

Hey Brett. I’m looking forward to see the results of the name change. Your site has inspired me to start a blog and talk about rock music I enjoy and it will cover a wide selection of bands. If you want to check it out that would be cool. Maybe you might have some good advice for me moving forward with it. Thanks.
